NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Despite plenty of chatter, Plaxico Burress still hasn’t caught on with an NFL team for this upcoming season.

He’s even willing to play for cheap, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The former Jets and Giants wide receiverwould accept the veteran’s minimum salary of $925,000 over one year, the Post-Gazette reported.

Burress was released from prison last year and signed a $3 million contract with the Jets. But after only 45 receptions, 612 yards and eight touchdowns last season, no team has been willing to take on his asking price.

The ten-year veteran has said he’d like to play for the Philadelphia Eagles. That never materialized — not to mention many other destinations — and now there’s speculation about a possible reunion in Pittsburgh.

The 34-year-old had the game winning catch in the 2008 Super Bowl for the Giants and last year he was named the Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year. He was an eighth overall pick in the 200 NFL Draft and has 63 career touchdowns.

I think hes always been willing to play for cheap. The issue is nobody wants him. He comes with baggage from the gun incident and I think he got the rep last year for killing the QB. Often teams that take chances on these types of players have no set QB so its a big strike against him. Plus nobody wants to guarantee him any money. A team wont give him a chance until week 2.
