JetNation
The New York Jets have announced the release of cornerback Pierre Desir after nine very disappointing games with Gang Green. #Jets are releasing CB Pierre Desir, source confirms (as @MikeGarafolo said). Opens the door for rookie Bryce Hall. — Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) November 17, 2020 Expected to play a major role for the Jets in 2020, Desire has been a punching bag in coverage and was heavily criticized for his lackluster effort on a long pass play against the New England Patriots last week. With Desir out the door, this will open the door for rookie cornerback Bryce Hall who got his feet wet with a few reps on Monday night but could now see a significant uptick in his reps over the season’s second half. GREENBEAN
This worries me for the Tank. Desir was a lockddown CB #1 for a tanking team. WTF is going on Joe?
joewilly12
The tank better still be on or im going to be depressed.
jetstream23
For me, this news is less about Desir and more that Bryce Hall, in his limited action last week, looked decent enough and trustworthy enough to the GM and coaches that they felt a warm body like Desir was expendable, even as depth. This is really good news. It also likely confirms that he got through last week's game (playing 39 defensive snaps, 7 special teams snaps) and recovered normally without any kind of injury setback or unusual soreness, etc. Again, really good news. 2
