RIDERS SIGN QUARTERBACK TOM FLACCO

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American quarterback Tom Flacco.

Flacco (6’1-205lbs) joins the Roughriders after a strong collegiate career that had him the running for the Walter Payton Award in back-to-back years.

Flacco left Towson third in passing touchdowns (50), sixth in passing yards (6,086) and sixth in passing completions (484), amassed over just two seasons. In his senior year, Flacco was named All-CAA Second Team, finishing the regular season with 2,831 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions while adding 324 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

As junior, the 26-year-old finished fifth in voting for the 2018 Walter Payton Award and was the ECAC Offensive Player of the Year and the CAA Offensive Player of the Year. He also earned All-CAA First Team and HERO Sports FCS All-America Third Team. That year he matched the Towson single-season record with 28 passing touchdowns and threw for 3,251 passing yards while also adding 742 yards on the ground.

Prior to Towson, Flacco played two seasons at Western Michigan earning 188 passing yards and 266 rushing yards as a freshman.

In addition to football, Flacco played baseball at Towson and in 2019 was second on the team in stolen bases and played in 44 games.

Cody Fajardo who was from Nevada and was compared to Kapernick style wise is their (Saskatchewans) starter.  Fajardo has been a pretty good CFL QB so far.

The mind numbing head shaking thing for me is that fact that Chris Streveler a former back up QB of Winnipeg is now the backup QB for Arizona.  The guy is terrible, he is Tebow version 2 in that he can run but is an AWFUL passer.

There is your CFL lesson of the week.

Or the peanuts. I have a special love for peanuts. All the shells used to rain down on the field like a plague of locusts at Shea Stadium in the 70s. "Boooooo!!!!"  Not that I ever participated or anything. ?
