Tell the Patriots to Just Shut Up

It's amazing how many people are against LT on this one and it's sickening.

I don't think it's so much everyone being against LT as it is that the Chargers are the only ones still talking about it. Like I said, the Patriots have moved on.

the Patriots are the perpetrators. They were the classless ones. Not surprising they've moved on.

Regardless of who started it, the Chargers are the only ones still talking about it. Therefore it shouldn't even be a poll. Of course it shouldn't be surprising that they moved on, they're working on getting to the Super Bowl.

Eh? I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean people in general, well judging by this messageboard which has 0 chargers players posting, it seems to be the patriots fans that keep talking about it. If you mean in the media, I dunno, I try to ignore the media as much as possible, but it has been one entire day, and usually news is about a day late, so how would you know that either?

You act like the Patriots are being stand-up guys by not dwelling on it or something.

Think of it like this:

A bunch of thugs break into a house and steal all the money of an innocent civilian. The thugs then turn around, take the money, and buy yachts and casinos.

A week later, the devastated civilian is still dwelling on the loss of all his life's work, while the thugs are living it up in the Caribbean.

The thugs have moved on.

Plus, I haven't heard any of the players still talking about it. All I heard was the postgame comments. I don't see the Chargers demanding justice or whatever.

They got a big, black eye as a result of this episode, but like Alk said, they have moved on to the next game.

LT needs to let it go, too, as he made his point for those who accept it.

The funny thing is, dancing on the other team's logo when you only won because they self-destructed is even more bush league than if the Pats actually played well.

They now go down as the Classless Dynasty.

WOWEE!! That's quite a comparison. I haven't heard the Chargers talking at all today but the day is still young. That being said, LT was still crying his eyes out yesterday. I just heard Jerry Rice this morning say that he felt LT was overreacting quite a bit too. Thoughts? One classy guy commenting on another classy guy.

Exactly. The Pats of all people should know this game was handed to them. Had SD not made a bush league penalty and some boneheaded timeouts they would have easily won the game. Throw in the fact that the WR's were dropping balls left and right and SD shoulkd have easily ran away with the game. Patriots players should have ran the hell out of that stadium thankful that Marty and co. gave them the game. They had no business gloating about anything.

What a shocker- the "Jacked-up" network that glorifies smack talk and showboating by professional athletes runs a poll and more people vote for the trash talkers. Now, there's a surprise- not.

I don't think that has anything to do with it all. I think most people of average intelligence realized that there was only one side in this poll that was actually doing any talking when the poll was started. No offense to you of course unless you voted for the Patriots. :P

Well, the reporters do keep bringing it up because it's a story for them. He needs to just answer the next question with "It's over and I'm not talking about it anymore. Next question."

They talked about it all morning on Mike and Mike and they actually brought up alot of good points. This whole thing comes down to the Patriots mimicking Merriman's steroid dance. For whatever reason, LT of all people took offense to it. Yesterday he went on to say that it set a bad example for kids. But somehow Merriman doing the steroid dance doesn't set a bad example for kids? His argument is weak and he knows it. I still like him as a player but he just needs to drop it before he ruins his own reputation.

This is getting ridiculous. Two wrongs (Chargers talking sh*t before and during the game - loved the Brady Sucks Chant at the pep rally - sucks for your Merriman - and the Pats Merriman dance on the logo) don't make it right. Any players that participated in the behavior are boorish. Bottom line. But like I said, I can understand it.

I take exception to a couple of things, however:

1) Sure, the Chargers lost the game - stupid decisions, poor caoching, bad mistakes. However, that does not mean the Pats did not WIN that game. No one is better at "situational" football than the Pats - and that is all on the coaching. Want examples? a) Troy Brown stripping the ball to save the season. His d-back skills come to play. Heads-up, situational football right there. They practice that. B) muffed punt return. dip-sh*t Charger is supposed to know to FALL ON THE BALL! Why did he try to pick it up with defenders bearing down on him? c) head-butt after a failed 4th down attempt by the Pats. Corral your emotions, son. Save it for after the game! I learned last night that San Diego has a reputation for chippy play and serious trash talk during the game. BB had his players practice "chippy" and "trash talk" during practice in order to learn to keep it under control.

Simply said, the better coach won the game on Sunday.

2) Pats have always been kind of "in your face" when winning a big game. I do not understand the shock. Want examples? a) Pitt talking like the game was won before the AFC Champ game was even played. Talking openly about making SB arrangements and needing extra tix for extended family. Fans lamenting they can't get hotel rooms, etc. Pats win. Several Pats players (McGinest, Milloy, Patten, etc) turn to the crowd and start waving terrible towels....Milloy Screaming "cancel those reservations!" B) Panthers SB - every Pats touchdown followed by a Muscle stance - mimicking Steve Smith. c) Every Pats touchdown followed by a flapping eagle dance - mimicking TO.

Pats have always held the tongues and been nothing but complimentary to the opposition leading up to the game. The opposition has always yapped it up leading up to the game. The Pats have always shoved in in their face when victorious. This is nothing new.

LT takes exception. He's allowed to. Everyone has an opinion. Even a "classy" mvp who just lost a divisional playoff game.

One more thing - it bugged the bejesus out of me when having to listen to the J-E-T-S JETS, JETS, JETS chant at Gillette almost two weeks ago. Was that disrepectful? I endured it. What coudl I have done? Nothing. I was just hoping the Pats would win - not that it stopped that J-E-T-S JETS, JETS JETS chant at all. I heard it again for good measure AFTER the game too.

What REALLY should have bugged the bejesus out of you is that your team sold enough tickets to Jets fans be able to HEAR the Jets chant. Nothing bothers ME more than seeing opponents colors at home.

As for the rest of your post... the pats didn't win the game. The Chargers HANDED you the game. Hey... a win is a win, but don't sing too highly the praises of the Pats. It wasn't like they played an outstanding game. The Chargers simply screwed up on the field as well as on the sidelines. A horrible and lame loss it was, but a loss just the same and now the Chargers will watch the rest of the season from at home in front of their TVs like the rest of us.

pretty good post garb. I do however think those who danced on the logo crossed a line and deserved a label of classless, just as TO did.

Shoudl Kraft had restricted sales to Jets fans like San Diego did last week and Indy is doing this week? Cripes, it is a GAME afterall. Everyone is entitled to watch the game - even in "enemy" territory. I said the chant bugged me - that does not mean you did not have a right to do it. Opposing fans can chant all they want - I don't like it - but it is what it is.

Sure - the Chargers screwed up - the Pats took advantage. The Pats screwed up too - the Chargers DID NOT take advantage. Therefore - ADVANGE PATS. I agree - Marty sure as heck helped the Past win the game. LT touched the football a total of nine times in the second half? How retarded is that????

I think it goes deeper than Kraft selling tickets. There were a lot more green jerseys that day than just the section held aside by the Pats. It's the same with the Jets. I can't stand that Jets fans would sell their tickets to opponents.

LT being underutilized in the second half was the biggest coaching blunder ever! He was unstoppable when he ran outside. Everyone knows how old and slow the Pats are when it comes to that. I really have no idea what they were thinking. Schottenheimer leaves the play calling on both sides of the ball up to the coordinators, but COME ON! That was just plain stupid! At what point do you step in and say, "Why haven't you given LT the ball?! We have to win this game." To have the best player in the league and not use him is beyond stupid. It really is.

So if we're giving the Chargers the loss as opposed to giving the Patriots the win, would it be fair for me to say that the Patriots would have won by two scores if Brady hadn't "given" the Chargers three interceptions?

The final result is all that matters because the Patriots go on, the Chargers go home. You can't expect the Patriots NOT to celebrate, but was it piss poor? You bet. And, I don't think NE would suffer it lightly if the tables were turned. Marty Schottenheimer is more embarrassed about the Chargers implosion than the Pats acting unlike the 'Champions' they're supposed to be.

Well, you're assuming that the Pats would have converted 2 out of the 3 drives into TDs. They weren't able to move the ball that well all game. You can't really say that. My point was that the result was a win for the Pats no matter how "unPatslike" they played. You help back my point up by listing Brady's 3 INTs. He did NOT play that well. He's an amazing QB, but this was not his game and usually when he doesn't bring it... the Pats lose.
