Politi: Fury over new parking regulations illuminates growing rift between Jets, fans

You sound like someone who's never tailgated before.

Jbro22 it is whining...

"So I can't park next to the tailgate because I didn't get a PSL?"

"So I have to walk a little to get back to my car after the game?"

Like I couldn't park & walk to a friends tailgate because I may be seen to be too drunk trying just to get there?

In the immortal words of Arte Lange "WAH!"

I think the more reasonable response would be that one person with a PSL is the assigned tailgate location, everyone else parks in nearby non PSL locations & walks to and from the tailgate.

Heck, 15 & 16H are in the Non-PSL locations!

How lazy can you be?

Oh its as simple as that. I'll just drop off my grill and cooler in NJ with my buddy the night before and meet them at the game the next day...

It makes sense to those that have never been to a football game.

Well, since ANYBODY will be able to park in the non-psl section, why not just have everyone do that and park together?

I originally started my mini quest against parking under the assumption that you weren't aloud to do that.

Even still, I bet this dies down until week 1 and becomes a problem when NON PSLers slow entering traffic down by trying to enter PSL parking to be with their friends. Arguing with lot attendants and whatever else it would take. People did it all the time when a lot closed last year and they were late.

That's why you don't "get it" like the rest of us. Freedom to park together isn't enough. Everyone needs freedom to park together 20 yards from the gate. People who stupidly plopped down $20K for seat PSL's should also have to get to the stadium at 8 am for a good spot. Oh - and then, after parking so close to the gate, those who want to park together should also eat up 7 parking spots for 3 cars.

They do not have to:

You will need a Pre-Paid Parking Permit to park at the stadium.

- Satellite parking will no longer be available in Lyndhurst.

- If it is more convenient, green permit holders may park in any lot, and yellow permit holders may park in yellow or orange lots.

- Parking lot toll plazas will open 5 hours prior to kickoff.

So there really was nothing to rant over - If you want to tailgate as a group - PARK IN THE ORANGE LOTS!

What you don't see as an issue, is probably the single biggest issue keeping me from getting season tickets.

I sure hope you are kidding....

Do me a favor... buy a coach ticket on an airline but tell them all your buddies are sitting in first class and you should be able to sit with them.

I think tailgating is great.

But lets say you are woody johnson for a moment. You have one customer who paid for four 20K PSLs with a $150 ticket price. That is 80K for PSLs adn 6k a year for tickets.

You have customer two who paid zero for PSLs and is paying $3,800 for seats.

Customer one who paid 86K to Jets this year does not want to tailgate. He wants to drive to game 30 minutes before kick off park right by stadium and go in and stuff himself on 9 dollar beers and ten dollar hamburgers. Maybe drop $200 on food during game.

However, customer two want to get there early set up grills and kegs in parking lot take up multiple spots show up drunk to game and buy zero food then get up to pee ten times and block fans views and leave the parking lot a mess is furious that the guy who spent 86K gets to park two minutes closer to stadum then he does.

From a fan point of view I 100% agree with UD real 25 year fans but if you or I owned the stadium you would think different.

Which customer would you rather have? Remember that is a totally different question than which fan would you rather have. I would take the fan with the green paint and keg and BBQ anyday. But I would take the customer with huge amounts of cash to spend anyday.

I've always understood the reasoning of the owners chasing the big buck guys. But when this team is lousy, or the weather is cold or rainy, those big buck people wont be there.

There is a balance that can be maintained between the 2 groups. Yet Ive never seen an owner who did it right.

Too funny.

Maybe someday I'll make enough money to be a football fan.

I know some very very rich folks who flat out won't buy the PSLs cause it's a bad deal

One guy I spoke with is an knicks/rangers/yankees season ticket holder who can't understand why he has to pay for the right to pay more. This guy could easily afford several PSLs but he just thinks its not smart.

funny thing about rich folks, most didn't get that way being dumb about money.

Completely agree, and was being facetious.

Yesterday I booked flights for my dad and I to go to Denver to see the game on Oct. 17th. I don't think there's any doubt my commitment to this team, it's just, with the cost right now, it simply doesn't make sense to go to Jet games.

If you're going to ask me to choose between a putting 10% down on a house, or buying the right to buy football tickets, it's just silly.

It is silly. PSL's are a much better investment than a house.

PSLs are actually as good an investment as a house, considering the housing collaspe that is actually a true statement.

Not to have everyone jump on me at once and call me a dick but Jets offered me six seats in Mezz B all row one seats. Yea I know a bit far back so I don't want them but they are good seats if you take kids as no one is in front of you.

Trouble is three packs only. It anyone wants them pm me and I wil give you seat numbers. Once again I could give a rats ass but I forget the name of the guy who takes kids who was looking for a cheap row one.

So if you dont get a permit, you're f#cked parking. Awesome.

I guess what they are trying to say over the permit deal is that should you buy tickets and are NOT a season ticket holder (who has a permit) - YOU MUST TRAVEL TO THE GAME VIA MASS TRANSIT.

I can only imagine what's going to happen at this years JETS/PATRIOTS or JETS/MIAMI or JETS/BUFFALO game when the opposing fans come to the Meadowlands!

They would have to park at the NJ Transit station in Secaucus & then take the train...

Theres always that snooty rich fan with a PSL who welcomes this type of parking so they wont have to deal with the commom fan folk type US-------

I am going to take the train and sell my awesome parking pass...

Which is pretty much the case already with pre-paid parking anyway. Yes, they are going to bend you over he hood of your car and go through your wallet no matter what.

Or don't go.

if anyone has a parking pass and they want to sell it for particular games.. if i am going i will buy it..

in order for me to take the "train to the game".. it will take me a minimum of 4 hours for a 2 hour trip by car.. and that is if i make all connections..

OY!

sooo..i am looking for a parking pass :D and a tix for some games.

sigh.

One thing I did find laughable about the Super Bowl bid was the idea they can get 50% of the crowd out of there on that train.

I took the Meadowlands debacle for the Jets/Falcons. Getting there is okay, because the arriving crowd is spread out. Some people want to get there early, some at gametime.

But everyone leaves at the same time. And on a freezing cold night with thousands of people being herded onto overcrowded trains it takes forever. With police dogs, troopers and a long line it was like a re-enactment of "Schindler's List". Think when you charge $1000 for a Super Bowl ticket it's not going to go over real well that the NJSEA(oh, this crowd is leaving now; close some lanes AND the Goethals Bridge too) and NJIT treat exiting stadium crowds the same way-like total crap.

I'm leaning strongly towards not going.

Its going to be a nightmare with people without passes trying to enter the stadium grounds.

Less congestion near the stadium because of less people tailgating? No issues here either.

What people need to remember is that this is mainly affecting PSL and non-PSL people. The Giants did it differently because there are no non-PSL people for them. They can say "we aren't separating people" because technically they are all the same, they are all paying a PSL. But if someone pays $15k for a PSL, why shouldn't they get better parking than someone who didn't pay any PSL? I have no issue with what they're doing as far as the parking is concerned. You pay that much $$$ for the seats, you should get better perks.

I'd be pissed right now if I was a season ticket holder.

I intend to sell them for a profit, but if I cannot you are first on the list of people I will ask.

I am lucky enough to live close to Brewster so I can get down to Grand Central pretty easy and then its just a walk to Penn that sucks... otherwise much better than driving.

The Classic Harley gang (not really a gang, lol) had 12 seats in their name. Their season ticket bill was over $20,000 per year I believe since they had the front row club at $250 per seat\game (don't quote me on the exact price). Their commuting costs were hundreds of dollars per game.

They walked away out of principal. Tony said he would never pay a PSL and he is a pretty good businessman.
