flgreen
Jets' Tannenbaum faces tough call Posted July 02, 2010 @ 3:35 p.m. ET By Dan Parr Things were going the Jets' way. They had a Cinderella run to the AFC championship game last season and pulled off a couple of impressive moves this offseason in acquiring CB Antonio Cromartie and WR Santonio Holmes. They were suddenly loaded with talent, and one of the favorites to win Super Bowl XLV. Then came the punch to the gut. Some of the team's more valuable players

LWC611
Thanks for the post flgreen. Parr is right and this off season is also about Tanny and what he needs to do to keep the team together. He is in a very difficult position.

#27TheDominator
Dont cave Tanny. Let that little greedy bastard play out the rest of his contract like a good little boy or trade his ass fast!!! That constitutes caving as far as I'm concerned.

slats
You have to be an ESPN Insider to get the original article, but this is PFT's summary: New article only confirms Revis' value to the Jets Posted by Mike Florio on July 5, 2010 6:28 PM ET Things have been quiet of late regarding the efforts of Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis to get a new contract. With Shaun Assael of ESPN The Magazine doing the talking, Revis doesn't need to say much at all. An article in the July 12 edition of the publication makes clear (as if it already wasn't) the value of Revis to the defense. Assael characterizes the fourth-year pro as the "most critical defender on the field" in Rex Ryan's system. And then there's this quote from Ryan, which demonstrates the importance of Revis to the franchise: "Most teams use their best corner on the second-best receiver and double-team the No. 1. But with Darrelle we can man-to-man their best. It makes you feel like you're playing with 12 guys." But take heart, Jets fans. Revis once again explains that he doesn't want a $100 million contract. Instead, he wants only "50 cents more" than Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. So Revis wants only 45.3 million (and 50 cents). Over three years. gangreenman
Honestly... This is getting ridiculous. At this point it seems as if Revis is only threatening to hold out for attention. He keeps getting articles written about him, which reflects a negative light on the organization, thus pressuring them to cave into his demands. Its easy for him to use the media to say that the Jets have locked him into his contract and he has to play even though he doesn't want to...And that this is the Jets being unfair to their best player. Its a lot harder to get an article written about how, from the Jets perspective, it is unfair of Revis to complain this way as he is turning down very lucrative offers. If the latest leak is true, and he really is not interested, then he is the one being unfair. If i read correctly that deal would give him another 7 years with the Jets (a four year extension) for 100 million dollars with the 20 million included in the buyback clause of his current deal remains guaranteed. If Revis is really serious about getting an extension prior to the season starting, he needs to meet Tanny somewhere in the middle. If not, he can just suck it up and play for his $1 million this season.
