jetscanes331
Just got this e-mail from the Jets. Subject: Green Day to Open New Home of the Jets Season Ticket News JETS ANNOUNCE GREEN DAY WILL OPEN TEAM'S NEW STADIUM ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, SEPTEMBER 13, 2010 MULTI-PLATINUM ROCK BAND WILL PERFORM "LAST OF THE AMERICAN GIRLS" WITH THE BROADWAY CAST OF AMERICAN IDIOT ON THE 50-YARD LINE Guitarist Slash and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger Also To Perform Tailgate Concert We wanted you, as a New York Jets season ticket holder, to be the first to know about an announcement the Jets are making a little later this morning. The team is announcing today that the multi-platinum rock band Green Day will perform live with the Broadway cast of the smash-hit, Tony Award-winning American Idiot to open the Jets' 2010 regular season in their new stadium. The halftime show will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display. The team also announced that Slash, former lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, will perform a tailgate concert featuring lead singer Myles Kennedy and two special guests — Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls and Dancing with the Stars champion, and Jason Bonham of Led Zeppelin — pregame on the plaza just outside the stadium. Scherzinger will also perform the National Anthem. Opening night entertainment is presented by Bud Light, MasterCard, Pepsi, HBO GO and MAX GO. Green Day, which is singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, are currently touring in support of their eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown. Produced by Butch Vig, 21st Century Breakdown was released by Reprise Records on May 15, 2009, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart as well as on the Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative charts. 21st Century Breakdown won the GRAMMY® for Best Rock Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards earlier this year. Green Day won two GRAMMY® Awards for the groundbreaking rock opera American Idiot, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. The band collaborated with one of the theatre's most acclaimed creative teams, led by Michael Mayer, the Tony Award-winning director of Spring Awakening; Tom Kitt, two-time Tony Award-winning composer and orchestrator; Steven Hoggett, Olivier Award-winning choreographer, and producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman to bring this explosive, iconic album to the stage. The smash-hit, Tony Award-winning musical American Idiot tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Their quest for true meaning in a post 9/11 world leads them on the most exhilarating journey of the Broadway season. The Jets' 2010 regular season kicks off when they host the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. ESPN Radio will be distributing light bands that glow green to fans entering the stadium. Jets opening night entertainment is produced by GameDay Entertainment LLC, Executive Producer: David Saltz. The JETS have a freaking halftime show to open their new stadium in a year in which they are Superbowl Favorites and you are complaining that Green Day is doing the show? nj meadowlands
Love the band an am excited about this, but they could've picked a much better song of the album... there are 2 in particular that would fit a football game. This one's kinda lame.
The Crusher
True, but I'm sure to the fans, they hope they have the time of their lives. I had to live thru about 18 months of Baby Crusher digging Teh Greenday. Luckily my introduction to Metallica, Hendrix and The Beastie Boys cured that.
