Gilbert has spent most of the last two seasons (2010-11) on the New York Jets practice squad. He appeared in one game for the Jets against Buffalo in last year's season finale, recording one tackle for a two-yard loss. The 6-5, 285-pound San Jose St. product originally entered the NFL as a third-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 2009. Gilbert appeared in four games with the Bears before being released prior to the 2010 season.
