faba
Bucs trade Eric Wright to 49ers Updated: July 19, 2013, 4:32 PM ET By Pat Yasinskas | ESPN.com 441 103 55 EMAIL PRINT TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneersannounced Friday afternoon they have traded cornerback Eric Wright to the San Francisco 49ers for a conditional pick in 2013. Signed as a free agent last year, Wright had a rocky first season with the Bucs. He missed part of the offseason program while dealing with an undisclosed medical condition and was suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. After last season, Wright agreed to a restructured contract that included a large pay cut and seemed to clear the way for him to stay with the Bucs. But Tampa Bay apparently had other ideas. The departure of Wright likely clears the way for rookie Johnthan Banks to start opposite Darrelle Revis. Bucs offensive lineman Donald Penn voiced his displeasure with the trade on Twitter:

T0mShane
Wright got rolled for a DUI.
jbone
It's ok. They'll just roll triple quadruple coverage to the rooks side 90% of the time. Allowing Revis to shutdown at least 2 guys per snap. I'd pay a guy 16 milli to do that.
HessStation
I don't get it? If I'm a Bucs fan I'm dumbfounded.

SayNoToDMC
Is it okay if I imply the Bucs are stupid? Greg Schiano makes me less sad we have Rex Ryan. The Glazer family? less sad we have Woody. At least Woody is only destroying my favorite American football team, they've gone international.
faba
Yeah in a division with Atlanta and the Saints you really want to start a rookie CB - he must be the second coming of Revis- hah
Greenseed4
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneersannounced Friday afternoon they have traded cornerback Eric Wright to the San Francisco 49ers for a conditional pick in 2013. Considering it was for a draft pick in 2013, meaning, 3 months ago...I'd say the Buccaneers got fleeced.

eboozer
Man! Schiano is a tough MF'n control freak. This move sickens me. Again "the rich getting richer" The NFC West is starting to look like the AL East. Yankees/Red Sox = Niners/Seahawks and we're the Mets. At one time some very good talent only to be destroyed by a terrible owner/GM
Integrity28
that would be a personal attack Then I'll stick to implying the Bucs are a crybaby.
Bleedin Green
Well so much for that, huh? http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/9499910/eric-wright-trade-san-francisco-49ers-tampa-bay-buccaneers-voided TAMPA, Fla. -- The trade of Eric Wright from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the San Francisco 49ers was voided Monday, after the cornerback failed a physical, San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh said. His rights reverted to the Buccaneers, who are in the process of releasing him, a league source said. There did not necessarily have to be anything physically wrong with Wright for the 49ers to reject him and scuttle the deal. Wright had fallen out of favor with Bucs general manager Mark Dominick and coach Greg Schiano after he was charged with misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles on July 12. The 49ers had agreed last week to give the Bucs a conditional late-round selection in 2014 in exchange for Wright. He also served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances last season.
