slats
With Holmes out, and Hill hurt, too, finding someone to replace the team's default #1 WR on punt returns might not be the worst idea.

BroadwayJoe12
Hey sweet Jesus you finally agree! No one has disagreed that we clearly need help at these positions, what we disagree with is that replacing them with scrubs like Braylon and Scott is not the answer. joewilly12
Does Cribbs have any worth as a WR? Slim pickings at this point I guess.

Smashmouth
Kerley is our only competent WR...can't have him returning punts and Gates is useless on KR. then we should have signed Leon Washington when we had the chance and sent that pile of horsesh*t Alex Green to the curb. Leon could have handled both retuning duties and even play on offense out of the backfield or even in the slot if Kerley had to move outside from time to time. This guy is a glorified KOR how the hell does he help this offense or a young QB trying to .... wtf why even bother anymore Why is this news to you? There is no magic bullet out there. They aren't signing and in his prime Tim Brown off the street in October. They had Cribbs in earlier in the year and obviously liked him, but Idzik said his knee wasn't ready, but was "almost there". He didn't stick with the Raiders and reports were that he was a step or two slow and looked to still be recovering. Having him in again now is only logical. Doesn't mean they expect him to stick. Teams have Jamarcus Russell come in on Tuesdays now and then, doesn't mean he is getting signed. As for being a glorified kick returner, we could use a kick and punt returner and IMO those are EXACTLY the kinds of guys we should be looking for with Mornhinweg. He did pretty well using Desean Jackson. Those are the kind of guys that can give you good YAC from simple short routes.

When you look at our WR situation and whats available Josh Cribbs is about the worst option available. Kick off returns are basically useless now and this team is trying to prop[erly evaluate a young QB while putting garbage on the field to do so and that sounds very familiar. The only reason I want a decent WR like a Brandon Lloyd is NOT to win games or have a chance to contend OR try to catch some magic bullet like you proclaim Im huntig for ...I just want Smith to get a fair shot with some WR's who are at least proven to run decent routes and help him along. Not looking for a playoff run or anything of that nature either. Cribbs is NOT that guy because hes a terrible WR that's pretty much my take on it.
