For those wondering why no Ziggy

Free agent EDGE Ezekiel Ansah's agent told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport teams want more information about the pass rusher's surgically-repaired shoulder.

According to the agent, they will wait to sign until after Ansah's four-month appointment in mid-April. Teams are understandably cautious given Ansah's injury issues and subsequent uneven play the last several seasons, but he is still just 30 (in May) and recorded 12 sacks in 2017. Ansah could end up being a bargain.

We gave Anderson 8 million for the next 3 years.

Also he had 4 sacks on 7 games played last year.

Anderson all 16 with only 7 sacks but 16 QB hits and 7 tackles for loss in a limited roll sharing time with Shepherd.

two different players

MANY MANY edge rushers play past the age of thirty, and quite effectively.

not many many just a handful in the last 30 years. fwiw an established team can take that gamble the Niners of old did that as did the Cowboys but they were perennial SB contenders at the time as was Green Bay when they did it. The Jets are a building team closing in on the playoffs not by any means an established team that can take chances on post 30 players

Still Just 30 ??? Post 30 = downward trend in the NFL  they make it sound like hes 26

We don't need 30 year old Bargains

30 isnt old for the position.

I'll take a lot of edge rushers over the years at their 30th birthday.

That said I want no part of this one.  Hes not that good, always seems to be dinged

Ziggy is an old 30 his injury history is Pennington-esque plus he can’t function in a 3-4

If you are talking about a superstar pass rusher's like Reggie White, Julius Peppers, then yes their career's were still very good after 30 as was Charles Haley, and Fred Dean who were basically specialists.

With that being said there is no way in hell Ziggy is even in the same conversation as those guys since those guys in their primes were always in double digit sacks and Ziggy did it 2 times in his whole career. Those guys were always healthy as well which played a big part in their longevity.

Paying Ziggy, a guy with 48 career sacks, the money he probably wants would be ridiculous since he does not fit that mold of "after 30" great pass rushers by any means and it's not even close. Now if Ziggy wanted a prove it deal that he can still play and stay healthy maybe you take a shot but that's the only way this guy should even sniff our lineup with what's available in the upcoming draft.

I hope you dont get me wrong, I want no part of Ziggy.  Was speaking in general terms that 30 year old pass rushers arent old.  I stand by that.

But again, I've never been impressed with Ziggy, hes either injury prone or has a real low threshold of pain and takes too much time off for me.  Cant imagine with his last decent contract he'd be more driven to work and get on and stay on the field.
