R44
You're right about that Rigs - but his magic never got him a ring and his bungled tactical decisions insured that. His managerial stats in Chicago are trending in the wrong direction and I think 06 will be the low point and hopefully jetison him back to the west coast where he can ride his Harley year round. The pick up of Pierre gives them a bonified lead-off man and if they keep Walker they've got as tough a first five as there is in baseball. History says their starting pitching won't stay healthy enough and Zambrano and Maddux can't carry the whole load. Ryan Dempster showed a lot of guts as the closer, but at the end of the day, he'll put a lot of guys on base. Duster doesn't like playing kids so Cedeno and Murton won't be developed properly. Hope I'm wrong, but a 4th-5th finish will make me happy as it will get Bakers azz fired. I think you are correct Jetster, Baker just seems to be in fog and the pitchers can't seem to stay healthy. Dusty never liked playing kids.....Now in San Francisco, Felipe Alou is the same and the Giants are fielding a 1999 All-Star team. Murton is a good one. They also have a real good first base prospect with a heavy eastern European surname (Dobriak?), who could allow the Cubs to trade a disgrungtled Derrick Lee to get pitching, if they fall out of contention. Overall, I agree with Hammer. If the pitching stays healthy they are a factor. If they aren't, and history show Wood and Prior have a hard time doing so, they struggle. P.S: Pittsburgh looks like they have a nice young group, but the central looks real tough for upstarts to win in.
mbn007
Pirates and Brew Crew have a nice core of young kids, but like the Devil Rays in the AL East, there are too many good teams ahead of them.

Jet/BosoxFan
AL East: 1. Red Sox (for once, deep pitching...and SICK-@SS defense, even if the batting stats arent what they have been as of late) 2. Dodgers (They'll suck, but it wont be Billy Mueller's fault) 3. D-backs 4. Rockies AL: Yankees-Angels: Doh! You know how that one goes...Angels, ho-hum, continue their streak of beating NYY like a government mule. Red Sox-White Sox: No extra outs and horrid pitching this year...BoSox take out the flash-in-the-pan champs by throwing the leather around. ALCS: Red Sox over Angels, fat Bartolo still not coming through in the clutch, still cant get it done against Boston. NL: Braves lose to Cardinals, duh! Giants beat Astros in a series void of offense and intentional walks to Barry*. Cards sweep SF...Barry* retires in disgrace. W/S: Cards over Red Sox...the surprising BoSox season falls just short and the Cards take the title.
Maxman
Maxman it's all about partnering up with a google adsense and about putting forth a product that that will lend folks to click ads -- now, you're the computer wiz, help me figure that part out By the way, message boards drain revenue Message boards require a better server...so you are right they are a drain in that sense. As far as me being a computer wiz, I used to think I was. Then the front page got hacked here this week. Shows how little I know about security! Also, you can't like Pavano and Wright being injured all the time. Also, Father time may catch up to the unit and moose. That is why I dont pick the yanks. They have an awesome hitting lineup but the starting pitching is in the air....as well as the middle relief. LL

LL This is exactly why I have the Red Sox barely edging out the Yankees, to Maxman's dismay....The same "might" be said of the Mets and Red Sox staffs too (age; injury concerns).... I "love" the Rockies young pitchers, but fear the ball park will "eat them-up, chew them up and spit them out" Atlanta has a decent young staff....Sosa was much better last season than most remember and Davies "might" be good too. Pittsburgh, surprisingly, has collected some nice arms

He's 8-3 on possibly the only good team in the NL. I don't see why he won't be in the running. In addition, the only reason I didn't pick Pujols is because I predicted that he was going to injure his oblique while playing first base, I just didn't have time to type all of that because I was in a rush that day. ;o)
