The Jets moved into the basement of the home they shared with their ex and cried themselves to sleep at night listening to her bang her new man upstairs. We cut bait w/ Zach after 2 years as well. Unfortunately, Rodgers got hurt and we had to go back to him. The Jets did everything right with Zach Wilson. It just didnt work out. Its not anyone's fault. Its just life. Some things work, some dont. Move on.

The big F up was not signing a true #2 QB in the off-season which would have limited the chances of seeing Wilson starting games significantly. I truly think that Douglas thought that Rodgers wouldn't miss significant time and he could get by with Zach as #2. This was a bet he lost big time.

What did you want to see? The Jets win 9 games cause they had a decent backup? That is even a worse case scenario. If a backup has to play the majority of your season, you are screwed. It is better we won 7 then won 9. 1

This I have to agree with. The goal is to win the SB and it's extremely rare for an NFL team to lose their starter and have their backup take them to a SB victory. We weren't winning dick with Wentz, Minshew, Mills or whoever else they could have signed.

A decent backup probably gets us into the playoffs.

All things considered I agree with what the Jets did for back up QB in 2024, even if Woody said at the ESPY’s that he did not. That was moronic. With a better OL and OC, even Zach could have won more games last year. A strong roster and coaching got Mark Sanchez to the AFFCG two years in a row even if it was realized that, after you had to pay him and gut the roster, he could not carry the team on his own. With the roster the Jets have in 2024, it was worth overpaying Tyrod Taylor to back up.

No. They should have brought in real QB competition from the jump instead of essentially pre-anointing him as their day 1 starter from the moment he was drafted. There were countless other egregious mistakes as well, including allowing a talented young OC in LaFleur to take the fall for ZW’s miserable inability to resemble an NFL QB.

If the Jets had drafted what looked like a franchise guy in Brock Purdy in 22' the chances of ZW seeing the field again after Purdy got his shot were slim to none and probably would have been shown the door for a 4th-5th round pick at the time. It's extremely easy to make those decisions when you've got your guy.

It's extremely easy to make those decisions when you've got your guy. In that case - why didn't the Jets trade away Zach Wilson when they acquired Aaron Rodgers? Whiffing on a # 2 overall pick is bad enough. Continuing to give that sunk cost more opportunities to tank your season again and again is unforgivable. You have to be willing to move on quickly....or at least hedge your bets a little....when its clear the guy you drafted high isn't any good. Handing him the unquestioned QB1 job for 2 years and then the unquestioned QB2 job in year 3 were, as I said, unforgivable decisions. And these decisions were easily mitigated by bringing in a decent veteran option, of which there were numerous and were named on this very board. Jacoby Brissett or Gardner MInshew gets us in the playoffs last season.
