Question for Bitonti

Adrian Peterson screwed up his collarbone Saturday, that could cost him a bunch of bucks..don't see him being an early 1st rounder anymore unless the injury isn't as severe as 1st reported

I don't see how a collarbone injury is going to affect a running back's stock in the draft. Especially when he'll be all healed up before the combine next year.

yes he is Troll-he would have been a top 3 pick not now-YOU'RE the delusional one if you think differently

Why would a collarbone injury drop him? If he had a McGahee type injury I could see it. To be honest I don't know what all of the fuss over him was about to begin with. Reminds me of another Maurice Clarrett.

How the hell is he gonna drop? He has a broken collarbone, an injury that may be healed in time for him to play in Oklahoma's bowl game, and an injury that will be fully healed MONTHS before the combine.

It depends on the slot but forsee the Jets going for 3-4 defenders and offensive playmakers.

I can see the Jets making whole sale changes to the LB corp, drafting some one like Michigan's Lamarr Woodley to play ILB @ 270 pounds and someone like DE Brian Smith out of Missouri in the late second/early third round to be the sack specialist as a converted 3-4OLB.

Georgia DE Quentin Moses stock is slipping to the point he could be available in the middle of the first round. (also "Moses replaces Abraham" is a very bible friendly headline i couild see rags like the Post or Daily news running with)

If they pick high i can see players like RB Peterson, WR Jarrett or WR Calvin Johnson - but they probably won't pick that high due to the weak schedule. People say they will take Michael Bush, that will never happen, there aren't alot of 6'3" tailbacks in the NFL for a reason.

No really good DTs on the horizon - this is a weak crop - they will probably attack the position in rounds 3-5 or via FA. I can also see them taking offensive tackles late and converting them to guard.

so does Draft Daddy expect Adrian Peterson to be picked where he might have been after this injury?

yes still top 5 if/when he declares

bones breaking are meaningless injuries from a scouting perspective

bones heal no problem

it's the tendons and ligaments that worry people

I just can't see us going for a wr with a high pick bit with so many needs on the defensive side of the ball. I'm sorry to hear there aren't any big runstuffers available for us. we HAVE to shore things up against the run. this has to be our top priority since we most likely won't be getting atop 10 pick

you're wrong SoFla, it was just a collarbone. If he tore a ligament or even broke a leg bone it is possible he would have dropped. McGahee was the concensus #1 pick the year he was to come out. He shredded, SHREDDED his knee and only dropped to 23rd overall. Peterson will still likely be a top 3 pick, if not first overall.

point taken B-76.No draft expert I...

I have to do a lot of reading on the boards from guys who actually watch college football to assess who I like-and eventually get a pretty clear idea of who's who by April

I have serious concerns over Lamarr Woodley.

I think a short 6'1 270lb 3-4 olb who probably wont time well, probably wont be a 1st rd pick. When I watch michigan, alan branch really stands out on the Dline, but I'm not sure if he's richard seymour type or a nose tackle, he might be more of a 3-4 DE and a 4-3 DT like Seymour is rather than the answer at nose tackle. Woodley is always making plays though.....

there is no way to project peterson until he runs the 40. for better or worse the 40 has become the benchmark for draft status. i think he will be a definite top 5 pick but you just never know until combine/pro day #'s.

I agree, that broken collarbone is going to KILL his 40 time. :P

no real elite 3-4 NT in the pipeline

the guys i like are all late round sleepers/undersized like NT Quintin Echols out of K-State

even the "big name" juniors are guys like Okam, Branch more 3-4 DE than NT.

Hopefully getting Tui/Pouha back will help but overall there's no easy answer for the run stopping problem.

Remember the maxim that bad teams who look to solve their immediate problems via the draft usually remain bad. Draft picks are for the most part 3-5 year propositions - instant impact is the exception not he rule.

also using the Redskins and Dolphins rule of signing big names ain't working either it seems lately

You might want to rethink that one. I just watched that guy play first hand on saturday. Nebraska absolutely obliterated K-State on the ground.

So you think ILB. Isn't he better suited for the OLB position? What do you think of David Harris?

I'm not even saying we definitely keep Kimo next year either. What he does bring to the table is extensive experience in the scheme & therefore more help for a younger guy we'd be grooming that DRob is unlikely to help teach. But you're not going to get me disagreeing that he was a bust FA acquisition.

What about the other positions I outlined? No opinions? This is your thing.
