afosomf
I have to admit I've been pretty impressed by Andre Woodson (or as Kobe calls him 'black Jesus:roll:) out of Kentucky. IMO he could turn out to be the best QB in the draft. Still wouldn't draft him though, Clemens is the starter in 08. i only watched 1H, and i thought he was terrible IMO he is not a top 10 pick QB
Boozer76
The only sure thing about this year's crop of QB's is that ALL of them have big question marks surrounding them. Maybe a couple will actually pan out but one thing is for sure: None of them deserving of top 10 draft pick money. In fact, I wouldn't take any of them with a 1st round pick at all. He will easily be around in the 2nd possibly even the 3rd round. He's considered the 4th or 5th QB in the draft now, he's no longer considered in Brohm and Ryans league. BwanaZulia
I really think we are all set for 2008 in the QB dept. KC + Chad or Chad + KC. Either way there is upside if we get a top 10 defense going and an offensive line that can protect the QB and get a running game going. BZ

Iceman88
Oh and also I highly doubt that he will get past the 1st round, he is very talented. This year there really aren't many teams looking for QBs and again he is the 5th rated prospect at his position. He will easily fall to the second. Jets4life821
From Pats Fan says Cannon Arm You can add the Jets to the list of teams needing a franchise QB. It was noted this week that Kellen Clemens' 07 season joins the likes of Akili Smith, Andrew Walter, Ryan Leaf, Kordell Stewart, Kyle Orton, and Joey Harrington for worst QB seasons since 2000, as ranked by season QB rating. His season was the 7th worst. Clemens has backup QB written all over him. The Jets need O-Line help badly, but they also need a QB and they will have a shot at a nice one at #6 this year, getting their choice of Brohm or Andre Woodson and leaving Baltimore with which one is left. DMaynard
From Pats Fan says I would love to somehow do a cross check on everyone who has ever poo-poohed QB rating as a meaningful statistic with people who use it to condemn Kellen's 8 starts. I'll bet there would be a lot of matches.

It's flawed, but as far as single stats go it's probably the most telling. The problem is that qb rating is supposed to include everything. You can't say his qb rating is bad and he throws too many picks and not enough tds. That's probably why his qb rating is bad in the first place. It generally is a pretty accurate system to be fair. Clemens has a very bad QB rating simply because he played very badly. That's the sad, simple truth. Gainzo
poo-pooh? ... ......... :pooh: The QB rating system is horrible. The only good measure of a QB is TD to INT ratio.
Sperm Edwards
What makes the QB rating system weak is it can heavily credit the QB with an 80-yd TD for a dumpoff to a shifty HB who breaks 3 tackles & takes it from his own 20 to the house. But it penalizes heavily for a 25 yard TD strike that unluckily bounces off a wide open receiver's hands, up into the air, and into the lucky hands of a defender. If QB rating is all that, then Brian Griese is one of the top QB's in NFL history.

stoicsentry
As much as all of us would like to see other young QB prospects join the ranks, we can't afford to pick one early and as far as I'm concerned we can't afford to pick one at all. You've got to use most of these picks to sure up the O-line and D-line, maybe get a skill player or two.. then you go out and sign a reliable Vet QB so that if Kellen is injured or performs terribly, you have a man that can keep you in the playoff hunt. Same thing can be said about the OL. I doubt the Colts would hope to have the same 5 OL rather than Manning. I mean they had 4 different starters on this years OL compared to last season. At some point people need to realize if you find a great QB, it's a lot easier to build around them. The Vikings had a great OL and a good defense but their QB sucked. And they finished 8-8. Building the line is nice, but if you spend all your first round picks on the OL and still have no QB, it probably means you still ain't winning. It's true that you have to use your eyes to get a true measure, but as far as statistical analysis goes qb rating is as good as anything else. A first year starting QB over 8 games in a bad offense, and you guys still insist you have all the evidence you need to fire Clemens. OK. I'm done with this subject. Let's pick it up next year. Please reread the post you quoted and tell me where "firing Clemens" is mentioned. I'm not satisfied with where he is, but I don't think you have a real picture of where he'll be either. I do think we'll need Chad or another qb on the roster. Can't trade Pennington and go with what we have. If Mangini wants to be a Boy Scout he should live by their motto. The QB rating system is horrible. The only good measure of a QB is TD to INT ratio. There is no single good measure of a qb in my book, but qb rating is as good as anything else. It's funny that you picked TD to INT ratio, because INTs are one of the things I'd be most likely to forgive in a young qb. Isn't that one of the most heavily rated stats in the qb rating system? That can be just as bad as times for the same reason that Sperm indicated when criticising the QB rating.
