Brian Baldinger went to Massapequa HS and played football at Nassau Community College ..I'm sure that he was a Jet fan has no bearing on that report..

why is it a matter of bashing the source? why is it so hard to believe that Revis is the best? Did you not watch the games last year? who is better? who is 25 and better?

yeah i don't understand the debate that he isn't the best. he is. question is, what is a better team decision? the best at $16 mill per or second best at $10 mill per? if salary cap goes up, he's probably worth the $16 per. down 10%? probably not.

I think the cap will remain about the same (whenever we do have a cap reinstated). Less money will be spent on rookie salaries, which would leave more $$$ for vets.

Revis is certainly the number 1 or number 2 CB in the NFL and, given the importance of shutdown corners, probably merits such praise from Baldy.

A little surprised that Namdi Asoughma is not also on that list.

very curious what namdi's next contract will look like. if revis gets his $16 mill per than no one can really blame al davis anymore as a new paradigm for elite cb talent will be created.

good point on the rook salaries. even a decrease in cap could increase vet salaries as less goes to unproven rooks.

There is no way this guy is going to reproduce 2009 over and over again. Most likely his stock will come a falling big time. The media crowns people too soon nowadays, its a shame because Revis will still be a very good player, but it'll look as if he's under achieving.

He is nowhere near as good as Peyton Manning.

...and he is no Cortland Finnegan either...

And you base these claims on what, 124? All accounts say he's still in impeccable shape based on his ridiculous workout regimen, and teams know, even if Revis isn't as good as the god every anoints him to be, that they still can't just take the chance and throw at him. His reputation precedes him now.

Furthermore, what gives you or anyone the authority to say, in any definitive way, that he is "nowhere near as good as Peyton Manning"? You can say its a ridiculous argument to compare CB and QB, which is fine, but you CANNOT argue that Revis is "nowhere near as good" at what he DOES as Peyton.

Revis just had what could be argued to be the most dominant season an NFL cornerback ever had (which, going back to your first point, IS virtually impossible to reproduce, but who cares?). If that doesn't put him in Peyton's ballpark, I don't know what does.

This is just unbelievably stupid. he's improved significantly with every season, why will he suddenly decline?

Not saying he wont but to mark it down as inevitable is outrageous. He could be the ****ing best ever for all we know. How do you know he just isn't THAT good.

Agree on Manning though, he's much more proven over a period of time. Revis has proven his talent but he needs to maintain it, unlike you I think he certainly can do that to justify being named the NFL's best player.

That being said, this list in general bothers me. If we're judging players by how dominant they are at their position rather than how valuable they are as a player then Mangold is in it ahead of Ngata, Brees and possibly Johnson. He's simply at another level when it comes to centres, there's no one close.

revis is the best out there. a "fall off" year for him will still put him in the top 3. rex and him are a match made in heaven. barring injury he's looking at 5 straight pro bowls, at least.

The only way it will look like Revis is underachieving is if QBs decide not to throw on his side of the field at all. In fact, that's why Cromartie was brought in. You have to have a good cover corner on the opposite side, which is where most of the passing traffic is going to go (at least initially).

crobabymomartie and kyle wilson were brought in to prevent teams from just avoiding revis.
