Miami sports talk radio is going to be FUN tomorrow...they can't believe the Fins are not hiring Cowher because they want to keep Ireland and now this-they can't even entice the 2nd coming of Nick Saban to be their HC and are staying with Sparano. Oh man...

This just keeps getting better and better. For starters, Harbaugh was more interested in coaching the 49ers for $2 - $3 million less per year:

Jim Harbaugh has agreed to a five-year, $25 million contract to become the San Francisco 49ers' head coach Friday, according to team and league sources.

BUT WAIT, that's not all! It gets better!

The Miami Dolphins are prepared to offer coach Tony Sparano a one-year extension through 2012, but sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen raw emotions have developed after the team's pursuit of Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh met earlier Thursday with Miami owner Stephen Ross in the San Francisco area about the Dolphins' job, sources told Mortensen.

But Harbaugh and the Dolphins broke off talks later in the day, sources told The Associated Press.

A source told Mortensen on Thursday night that the Dolphins will retain Sparano.

What a disaster that team has become. Wow.

Ross has really made a steaming pile of sh*t of the situation.

It's funny, but the argument was made elsewhere that Harbaugh was using the Fins to get more money out of the Niners, but he still took way less than Ross was willing to pay him.

This was Bloomberg-Blizzard-esque in it's execution by Ross.

Also, Bleedin, Ross was sent to meet with Mangini about being a consultant today but the meeting was canceled.

You can't hedge your bets in a situation like that. Either fire Sparano and start fresh or stick to him. Who the crap would not get alienated if you knew that your boss was trying to replace you without letting you go officially. And only when the replacement doesn't want to come your boss comes and asks you to sign on for another year.

The 49er job is perfect for harbaugh because he probably doesn't even need to uproot his family taking the job. There are other factors involved besides salary.

Wow, how did I miss that one? That's brilliant.

I meant to get the full effect of the FU to the Dolphins.

You have it wrong. The best way to give the FU would be to be there for the draft, remain their coach through the 2011 lockout, then, moments before kickoff in Week 1 in 2012, quit. And do so by throwing down his headset and walking off the field, leaving Dan Henning to be the interim coach.

That would be a masterpiece, indeed. Well played, brother!

Henning was fired sadly.
