Why would he have already signed for the money? If people keep upping offers, you don't sign until they stop. If he had a clear preference for the Jets, and they made him a fair offer. Take it. Why wait to see what the other guys are offering to top it. I don't blame the guy, I probably would to, but the Jets have to tell him to shyt or git. Love to see the guy, but it depends at what price, and who goes off the board while you are waiting. it hasn't gotten very serious yet, I don't think Smith was coming back no matter what he says, but it will tomorrow. The longer he waits the more money that gets brought to the table. I have a hard time believing that the money is decreasing as this progresses. he's playing one team against the other to raise the pot. I say give him a deadline and be done with it.
