The recent outbreak of MRSA in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room could cause the Eagles-Bucs game this weekend to be cancelled, according to a report from ESPN.

ESPN's Trey Wingo reported that the NFLPA could "advise" the Eagles and Buccaneers not to play this weekend due to the third case of MRSA in the Tampa Bay locker room.

According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, the NFLPA will "will wait for the DICON report before making a decision on how to advise everyone move forward."

The NFL, NFLPA and appropriate medical specialists are working with the Buccaneers’ medical staff to aggressively address the matter, according to the league.

The Eagles are scheduled to fly to Tampa Bay on Saturday. Their plans have not been altered amid the most recent news.

Reports indicate the third player to contract MRSA is rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks. Kicker Lawrence Tynes and guard Carl Nicks had MRSA in training camp began. Nicks was believed to be treated, but the infection returned this week.

If the game has to be cancelled, the NFL would be hard pressed to find a time to fine a make-up date. The Buccaneers are coming off a bye, and have a game scheduled against the Detroit Lions during the Eagles bye week in late November.

It is possible the game could be moved, but with players infected, the concern might be more about the interaction of the players more than it is about the location. If the location is the concern, it is possible that they could play in Jacksonville as the Jaguars are in Denver this weekend. As for the game being played in Philadelphia, Temple - which plays home games at Lincoln Financial Field - plays on the road Friday night.

Of course, it's all speculation at this point as the NFLPA and the NFL try to figure out their next move.

If the game is postponed, Eagles fans might have flashbacks to 2010 when their game against the Vikings was postponed because of snow. That game was played on a Tuesday and the Eagles were upset by Joe Webb and the Vikings.
