chirorob
Believe it or not, Gardner is only the fifth position player drafted by the Yankees to represent the Yankees at the All-Star Game, joining Thurman Munson, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter, and Jorge Posada. For real. Where did Mickey Mantle come from?
Scott Dierking
Where did Mickey Mantle come from? Free agent. There was not a draft till around 1965. The Yankees were buying players very early

Jetlife33
According to Jack Curry, the Yankees will call up second base prospect Rob Refsnyder tomorrow. He is not in tonight’s Triple-A Scranton lineup, not that we have any reason to doubt Curry’s reporting. The Yankees will have to make both a 25-man and 40-man roster move to accommodate Refsnyder. chirorob
Since May 1st, Refsnyder owns a .295/.410/.436 (151 wRC+) batting line with more walks (38) than strikeouts (30). He’s also gone 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts. Can we please call him up. Your wish is granted.
chirorob
Yanks win 5-1. Easy peasy. I know it's nitpicking. But in a 5-1 game, did you have to use Betances and Miller? I understand getting Miller some work as he just came back, and the All Star Break, but what if you want them both today in a 3-2 game?
drdetroit
Don't you just love it when AROD bombs one against Boston. Nothing sweeter. There was nothing red sock fans were more obsessed with for about 5-6 years than pretending like Arod did steroids and none of their players did. Jetlife33
According to Jon Heyman, several executive are speculating the Yankees will pursue Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro due to his connection to Jim Hendry, currently a special assistant with New York who was the Cubs GM when the team signed (and called up) Castro. Just to be clear, Heyman is passing along speculation, not a hard rumor that the Yankees are pursuing Castro.
chirorob
both should be available today. They had off on Thursday. Both looked good yesterday. Miller would have had a 1-2-3 without the error on a weak grounder (kind of a tough play, but a very weakly hit ball) Betances looked freaking awesome. It is my one hope if they make the postseason, those 2 guys really can make it a 7 inning game for the other side.

Morrissey
King Rob! All hail the King of the North, the King of North! Anyone anyone anyone? What a great day for the Yankees rookie 2B. Refsnyder got his first hit, a liner to right-center and than in the 9th he hit a 2 run bomb over the green monster than ended up being the difference in the game. I love the Yankees, and always will. But some of my favorite times being a fan was 93, turning it around, 94 (till the freaking strike) and 95. The team turning it around with some good trades and some young players, and really only a few notable FA pickups. Jimmy Key being the one that I remember. drdetroit
I'd be cool with an infield of Headley at 3rd, Refs at 2nd and whatever defensive specialist at SS (Didi or Drew) for the next several years. It's not the powerhouse like we had in the mid to late 2000's with Arod, Cano and Jeter but still a good infield even with no offense coming from shortstop. Even 1992 - our last losing season we finished 20 games under .500 and there was no wildcard so the season basically ended after the first month - that was fun just watching the young kids play like Bernie, Militello, Wickman etc. You knew better days were ahead as Gene Michaels had stocked the minor league with insane talent and the MSG deal had given the Yankees deep pockets plus George was willing to spend the money in free agency. That's what next season with the knicks is going to be like.

Something the Cubs haven't done in 110 years. I don't care about WAR, he had back to back seasons with an ERA over 5. One year he led the league in hit batters, one year in walks. Overall, as a FA signing, he did not live up to expectations. He did help win a WS, so he was not a bust, but Yanks did not get what they were expecting
