The Jets are on summer break, but they made a pair of roster moves Friday by signing wide receiver Kyle Williams, who had tried out during the three-day minicamp that concluded Thursday.  Williams, 27, had spent three-and-a-half seasons with the 49ers, who drafted him in the 2010 sixth round. He signed on with the Chiefs in 2013, and last year he was with the Broncos, but missed the season because a torn Achilles sustained in training camp.

Williams last played in the NFL in 2013.

Infamously, his two fumbles in the Niners' 2011 NFC Championship Game helped theGiants advance to Super Bowl XLVI, which they went on to win. Williams' first fumble set up the Giants' game-tying touchdown. His second led directly to the game-winning field goal in overtime.

Williams reportedly received death threats after that game.

The 5-foot-10, 186-pound Williams has 47 career catches for 574 yards and four touchdowns, all with the 49ers.He also continued to return punts and kickoffs for the Niners for two seasons after his fumbles against the Giants. And the Jets just so happen to have a wide open competition at both return spots.

Williams reacted to being signed by the Jets on Instagram :

To make room for Williams on the 90-man training camp roster, the Jets waived wide receiver Quenton Bundrage, an undrafted free agent.

The NYJ very own BILL BUCKNER. Makes a lot of sense. The Jets figure themselves as a bunch of losers, why not surround themselves with losers?
