B.B. is not really a great talent evaluator. He basically throws sh*t against the wall and see if it sticks.

Every talent evaluator seems to do the same. Ozzie Newsome drafted about 10 QBs prior to Joe Flacco. This isn’t an exact science. Drafting is like playing the stock market with all new companies without any real track record.

Exactly. What Belichick does quickly though is move on rather than hold onto false hope or ego when he whiffs.

Definitely agree. Admit it’s not going to work and move on sooner rather than later. But there is generally a 3 year rule for rookies. By their 3rd year they should be able to show they belong or not. Sometimes the results are so bad though the firsr year that you don’t wait.

Agree. But once you build a team like the Pats have had the last 15 years, its a lot easier to give up on picks.

Ex-Jets QB Christian Hackenberg drawing interest from CFL Edmonton Eskimos

At least one team wants Christian Hackenberg.

The Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League added the former Jets quarterback to their “negotiating list” according to CFL news site 3downnation.com. In the CFL, the negotiating list allows a team to essentially call “dibs” on a player and reserves them exclusive negotiating rights should the player want to play in the CFL.

Hackenberg floundered with the Jets after being taken in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft. Despite his high draft pick, the Penn State product failed to beat out the likes of Bryce Petty and Geno Smith in two years in New York and never played a down for Gang Green.

The Jets traded Hackenberg to the Raiders in May, but he lasted just 20 days in Oakland before being cut. Hackenberg also visited with the Patriots on June 14 but was not offered a contract, leaving him a free agent. With his NFL options possibly exhausted, turning north of the border might be his only way onto a roster.

Edmonton’s general manager Brock Sunderland is no stranger to the Jets. He was a pro scout for the team between 2007 and 2012 before moving to a front-office role with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Even with a move, Hackenberg could still struggle to see the field. The Eskimos’ roster boasts four quarterbacks already, including the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player, Mike Reilly. Reilly is under contract through this season.

Moving to the CFL would force Hackenberg to take a massive pay cut from the four-year, $4.66-million contract he first inked with the Jets. Due to the negotiating list reserving negotiating rights, players have little bargaining power and most signed off the list are given minimum contracts of $52,000 CAD, under $40,000 USD after conversion.

Not all former NFLers get minimum deals, though. Johnny Manziel signed with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats in May for a base $122,000 contract with incentives that could raise the former Brown’s pay over $200,000. Manziel hopes to join the likes of Doug Flutie, Warren Moon and Joe Theisman who all used successful runs in the CFL to jump into starting QB jobs back home in the NFL

Hackenberg is expected to continue trying his luck with NFL rosters, but if nobody bites, the Eskimos will be waiting.

Hackenberg couldn’t even hack it in the CFL.  The guy took the Jets money and was happy - very happy holding a clipboard. If he couldn’t get any better over 2 seasons with the Jets after 4 years of college he doesn’t want to get any better. The guy took our 4 mil

and played along and now he’s done! Waste of a pick.

And here it comes....

He spends a year learning from Brady, the lights go on, and.....:)

Brady teaches others QB's nothing. He forced Jimmy G out because he was his replacement. He would like Hack because he's useless.

I'm going to assume he COULD throw a penny into Tom Brady's gaping anus. Being that it's generally more stretched out than a koi pond. Not sure if that helps him get signed in N.E. though.

POTY! LOL ?

Just a joke anyway.....I don't think Hackenberg is going to do anything but hang around and try and get another pay cheque.
