Jetsfanri
The D got shredded by Josh Allen, they looked like they didn't know he was a runner at all, didn't get a stop for the first several drives. Just saying. They need to step up as well, and maybe they can win us a game sometimes.
Popular Post Gibby
Because it 2020 football - even completely mediocre teams move the ball at will- it’s a question of what they do in the red zone or end of half end of game. This offense couldn’t run up the score on a high school team if it tried.
Popular Post Jetsfan80
Gregg Williams deserves the benefit of the doubt, considering the defense was the driving force behind the team's 7 wins last season. It also doesn't help matters that the offense is constantly giving the ball back via 3-and-outs. It's the same problem as the Rex era. People constantly loved to blame the defense for giving up game winning drives in 13-10 type games, rather than crediting them for keeping the team in the game in the first place in a nearly impossible situation. Granted, going ultra-conservative on defense in the 4th Quarter didn't help. But when the offense is atrocious, it puts the defense in a no-win position and leads to fatigue. You can't win like that in today's game with any consistency.
Warfish
It was not a great day for the Defense, no doubt about it. And yet, when we look at the league, the jets D is still ranked higher in both points allowed and yards allowed than the Jets Offense. So if you want to know why people focus on the O, it's because the O is consistently worse than the D, and a bad O makes a D's job much harder (less time to rest, more time on the field/fatigue, etc.), whereas a bad D generally leads to more offensive yards (pass-happy and trying harder to score) and more time to rest and gameplan between possessions, both of which generally lead to higher offensive rankings.
shawn306
Why ? Because the Jets offense has been an absolute train wreck since 2015. I yearn for the the days of Fitz, Marshalll, Decker, and Ivory

Those are legit skill players for a young QB. Not most of this current rubbish.

A short field, limited rest and short on time for adjustments early in the season can cause defenses to give up points quick.
varjet
I think this is the point about Gase. The Jets lost, and the defense did not play great. But they did not appear to be incompetently coached. They were just outcoached and outplayed. With the Jets' offense, they often look completely unprepared. You are not supposed to win every week. The other team plays too.
Barry McCockinner
You mean aside from the fact that our head coach is a brilliant offensive mind?
ScarletKnight89
Because we're terrible and the defense is full of JAGS and most people know it. There's no real talent on that side of the football anyway. Most good teams will shred us. The important thing would be seeing growth from our number 3 overall draft pick at QB. If he plays well it will make me feel better. So the offense is the most important thing by far.
#27TheDominator
The Jets D can stop the run. They can scheme stopping some passing games. They had a huge amount of trouble with a QB that can put pressure on them with his legs. Ask the 49ers how much pressure a QB that can run will put on your D. People concentrate on the O because you do not give up 40 minutes TOP on defense alone. The offense had one drive over 3 minutes the entire game. They punted. Bad as the D was the O was waaaaaay worse and the O supposedly improved, while the D lost it's best player.
