All I know after all this BS is that if he doesn’t play like Lawrence Taylor and start wrecking games then it’s another Woody FUBAR

Then you are going to be disappointed. He hasn't played in a long time and it will take a while for him to get up to game speed. That's of course if he doesn't get injured.

Jets also didn't get his services for the first 7 weeks of the season.

Yep, this is how the jets also lost.

but on the contract - Reddick got trounced. He basically ended up playing on the same contract he held out from all summer and now will feel the pressure to produce to overcome the hefty fines

This couldn't have happened 6 weeks ago? WTF? Nobody got what they wanted, Reddick sat for 6 weeks getting fined, the Jets lost 3 winnable games, and Reddick gets... less that he would have had (prorated contract) with camp fines.

WTF was the POINT of all of this nonsense??

6 weeks ago Reddick wasn't willing to play without a long term contract.

JD should've foreseen this issue and agreed to a new deal or walked from the trade.

Yeah, Reddick clowned himself but Jets suffered, also.

No coincidence that he and Rosenhaus explored a trade and found none to be had.  So yes, the Jets come out of this feeling a little better about themselves than Reddick does.  So that’s your silver lining.

The far bigger story is Woody Johnson taking full reins of the franchise.  That never works out well.  Dude would have doubled down on putting hydrogen in blimps AFTER the Hindenburg disaster happened.

Woody is the real root of the Jets terrible state of play on the Field, over the last decade and arguably from him buying the team. What do our Italian friends say. “The fish rots from the head down?”.

Oh please. Some people said he would flat out win this thing. He did not. Reporting on his 1 year deal, and then they will talk. The only people around here who are trying to save face are the geniuses who said he would never report without a new contract or that he would never play a down for the Jets and would get traded. Sound familiar?

I think the framework of a Reddick extension is already in place though. I might be wrong, but I think Woody and Rosenhaus began the process this week.
Woody said he wanted Reddick here when he talked about why he fired Saleh.

Woody is an idiot BUT getting DA for a likely 3rd and ending the Reddick holdout and getting him to report without a longer term deal are not bad things. He obviously wants to try to save a season that wasn't going as planned.

No, neither are terrible moves to be sure.  Our only hope as a franchise (sans a change in ownership) is Woody Johnson not being an idiotic tool wherever possible, so….prayer circle, everyone.

Woody's all in.

I think he may have realized that if they don't win now, he's going to have to sell and find a new toy to break.

So there's that. Hope the new owners are the type who know how to run a successful business.

Woody will never sell.  My guess is he wants to hand the reins to his son, Brick (actual name).

Plus it pays him 21 million for 9 games.

I think you have this wrong. I think he’s due like 8 mill for the remainder of the season after missing this week. He HAS TO pay his fines. That goes to the league. There’s 0 chance we’re paying him his 8 mill paying 12 mill in fines and have incentives in his deal.

What is happening is he gets that remaining per game part of his salary. Roughly 8 mill. He has to pay those fines. Jets have added incentives to his deal this year to help reimburse that 12 mill he has to pay in fines. Some easy like games played. Some harder like sack numbers.

This is smart bc Reddick gets hurt having to pay a big fine. But he knows to try and get that back he has to 1st off play and even more so produce. Making him motivated. Bc he very well might have just reported in a couple weeks and mailed it in trying to not play and not get hurt to hope for a new contract elsewhere next year. Now he has motivation to produce now and for us.

He has the same winning percentage as Leon Hess.

Spoiled rich kids get bored and walk away all the time. He probably would have done it years ago, but he was distracted and let his brother hold his prize temporarily while he was sent off to London to feel important for a little while.

100%, imho. This and overpaying for Davante, two rest of the year rentals. Woody doing all he can to not look like a jackass for firing his head coach when his team was playing for first in the division that week. And it’s not gonna work, and he’s probably gonna lose Joe Douglas too, now. And then he’ll be unable to attract similarly qualified candidates because he sucks as an owner. But fans will be happy because nothing makes Jets fans happier than firing or cutting people.

The 2-4 record thus far is not on Woody as much as it’s on JD. The OL has been sub par, the offense hasn’t clicked for whatever reasons (Saleh/Hackett). The DL has been brutal and was mismanaged as badly as could be by JD. No small wonder teams are running at will against us. JJ getting hurt really has derailed the DL, but not fortifying the DL in the off season was really dumb. On top of that, he gives JFM away. Another absurd move. Getting Davante will obviously help Rodgers and sending Hackett off to pasture looks to have a promising effect. I think this team will go on a tear maybe even starting tonight by squeaking out a win against the Steelers. But it’s just not good enough to win in the playoffs - dare I say playoffs - against the Ravens or Chiefs. They just don’t have the muscle up front.

This feels like a Jets team that will turn it around, win some games, really start looking good…. and miss the playoffs by one game.

Like Parcell’s last season when they d!cked around for weeks after Vinny T got hurt.  Finally figured it out with Ray Lucas, but too late.

You do know the history of the New York Jets, right?
