In American football or Canadian football, a blitz or red dog is a team defensive maneuver in which one or more linebackers or defensive backs, who normally remain on the defensive team's side of the line of scrimmage during a play, are instead sent across the line to the offensive side to try to tackle the quarterback or disrupt his pass attempt.

Just saying.

A blitz is when you send NAY LBs or DBs to rush the passer... just becuase we only have 3 DL instead of 4 doesnt mean when you send an OLB its nto a blitz in the 3-4 but it is in the 4-3.

no

4 rushers is a standard rush

sending 2 lb's in a 3-4 is a blitz

how can you make a case having 7 in coverage is a blitz ?

No its not... the # of players in coverage has NOTHING to do with it being a blitz...

If the JETS put 1 DL and sent 3 LBs your claiming thats not a blitz... do you realize how stupid you sound saying that now?

When anybody other than the DL rush the QB its a blitz... you learn this in pee wee football.. its not complicated...

can you discuss an issue without using insults ?

try this one for size

regardless of the base defense, and the position a player plays, the offense always has the same number of blockers

would you agree the standard offensive line has 5 guys ?

OK

so rushing 4 on 5 is not a blitz

it's just not

I think we are getting caught up in semantics

lets just say the jets are not sending enough rushers to generate pressure on the QB

Thanks for the definition

That is based on a 4-3 definition

You can call on OLB whar you want....in a 3-4 he's normally going for the sack

:rl::rl::rl::rl:

Its nto based on any formation... its based on the fact that a LB blitz is just that... a BLITZ!

If you ran a 2-5-4 defense... would you have to send all 5 LBs for it to be a blitz? Otherwise its not a blitz right becuase there are too many people in coverage?

A LB blitz is a LB blitz... when aLB rushes the passer its a blitz... whether its 1 LB or 17 LBs
