Jbro22
incarcerated bob No names yet , but the Jets have made a pitch for a defensive player - Seems that the Jets are in some type of bidding war. Still working I mean, after his last piece of news we have to take this seriously no?

stoicsentry
incarcerated bob I mean, after his last piece of news we have to take this seriously no? Aren't we still affected by the final 8 rules? If so, I don't see how we could add much salary.

stoicsentry
pretty sure those rules were lifted in july some time. Well, that's good news, but I still don't see who it could be. Jbro22
Should be noted that I changed the thread title from defensive 'star' to 'player'. I thought I read that bob said 'star'. My bad, it's early.
faba
Do not put much stock into such a vague comment and who brings in a impact player so close to start of the season. Beside your own like Revis

NIGHT STALKER
Well, that's good news, but I still don't see who it could be. It's not a corner.... um.. it's not Haynesworth... who could it be? A Thomas?
faba
A Thomas? Well I thought the Jets are being cheap so they would not want to sign a player before the first game- unrelated but give props to Jets and Woody- they have spent the money to try to improve this team. Beside your own like Revis The Jets with Braylon Edwards? Or is that different because they waited until after the season was well underway? A Thomas? To have a bidding war doesn't somebody else have to bid?
war ensemble
Interesting, and I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt after getting the Revis story. So...who could it be?
NIGHT STALKER
To have a bidding war doesn't somebody else have to bid? Absolutely...I don't have any inside info, so I can't get you any of the other team(s)...just figured I would throw a name out there as the original post suggested. lawngnome o-line
ESPN is saying that the Redskins are trying to trade Haynesworth to the Titans. It seems like perhaps this is the guy they are discussing.
JiFtheOracle
My guess is Bob is just using his new found fame for breaking the Revis story to get a bunch of Jets fans all excited for no reason. He is incarcerated after all, he could be pulling a fast one and laughing with all his cell mates.

It seems like perhaps this is the guy they are discussing. Ha!!! That would be epic. The Titans let him walk for absurd amounts of money only to trade for him back after the Redskins dished out all sorts of cash! How sick would our line be with Haynesworth, Big Jenk and Pouha/Ellis??? OMG! Apparently Mangold thinks he's spry.

Sperm Edwards
Did Haynesworth not want to play in a 3-4, or did he just not want to play NT in a 3-4? I can't remember.
Jbro22
I know Tanny did interviews with both WFAN and ESPN1050 this morning so not sure how true this is. Assuming he would be making calls all morning if it was still on, not doing interviews.
#27TheDominator
Did Haynesworth not want to play in a 3-4, or did he just not want to play NT in a 3-4? I can't remember. I don't think he loves the idea of the 3-4 at all, but I've heard that he was more seriously against NT. He had supposedly lost weight and gotten into good shape and there was speculation it was to force their hand to play him at 3-4 DE. Does anybody think they could be talking about Gilbert or Cody Brown? They have both been headed to the Jets practice squad as per their agents, but both have attracted interest from around the league. Practice squads have a set salary, but the player gets to pick where he goes. The Jets may need to woo these guys. Otherwise it's odd that they are at 6 and have two open slots. One will probably go to Jackson, who was just cut for Richardson, once he clears waivers. I'm surprised they signed Warren and Mauga so quickly because with their concussion issues I thought they might not be cleared by other teams. T0mShane
Tanny was interviewed on 1050 Monday and said that, prior to closing the Revis deal, he was working on a player-for-player swap to bring in a corner that could eventually contribute, if not start. This might be the info Bob was referring to.
