Chad Ochocinco has vacillated between reverting his last name to Johnson or keeping his current moniker.

I'm not sure if cornerback Darrelle Revis cares what name Ochocinco goes by, but Revis would prefer it on the back of a New York Jets jersey.

"I want Chad to come here and play for us, to be a Jet," Revis told New York Metro reporter Kristian Dyer in the days leading up to the Super Bowl. "I've been in his ear a lot about it this week. ... I think he could do well here. I've been telling him to come here."

There might not be enough microphones or footballs to go around.

The Jets already are considered a media paradise with colorful personalities such as head coach Rex Ryan, linebacker Bart Scott and Antonio Cromartie. The club provides regular access to owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum. They generate never-ending storylines.

But Ochocinco, too? That would be something.

From a football perspective, though, I'm not sure how much sense it would make unless the Jets can't afford to keep their receiving corps intact.

Tannenbaum said on a conference call last week he wants to re-sign free agents Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and Brad Smith for 2011. Jerricho Cotchery and tight end Dustin Keller are under contract.

So is Ochocinco, for that matter. But he appears to be headed for a Cincinnati Bengals divorce.

He has been diplomatic lately when speaking about his future with the Bengals, but he publicly stated two weeks ago he wanted to play for the Jets or New England Patriots.

The Jets "will make it to this point every year," Ochocinco said on "The T.Ocho Show" on Versus. "I'd do anything to play for someone like Rex Ryan or anyone who has that type of mentality."

A week before that, Ochocinco tweeted a note to Boston Herald reporter Ian R. Rapoport that he wanted to join forces with Bill Belichick.

He's a great player...who cares about his personality? Hasn't been a problem for us so far....

I haven't been anti-Revis even in the worst parts of his holdout, but come on now. He's being a problem right now! He's trying to recruit a player when we have 17 free agents of our own to work on, 2 of which are stud receivers. Unless he's suggesting that Johnson is going to be our # 4 receiver, he needs to STFU.

That's actually an angle i didn't consider.. I'm sure it wasn't purposeful, but in a way campaigning for stinko would mean one holmes/edwards would have to go..

and i think revis is a turd, so i have no problem accepting this as more evidence of character flaws.. thanks!

This is so far fetched right now that its unimaginable.

But stranger things have happened. Who would have thought Holmes would play for us this year at this point of time ?

Speaking of Holmes i hope we sign him. The Steelers sorely missed him in the Super Bowl. Mike Wallace maybe faster that anyone on the planet, but when it comes to receiving he is no Holmes.

Revis isn't worth the money. If he was, he would have caught that Big Ben pass in his hands and run it back for the TD.

That's true. An Ed Reed, Champ Bailey or Charles Woodson all make those types of plays in really big games. With those guys, the Jets probably actually win the game. Namdi and Revis right now are probably the top cover corners, but they don't get the INTs and really put the fear in somebody. It's not truly shutting down one side of the field if you can still throw there incomplete.

Once again the defense doesn't show up in a championship game. Why commit so much money to these defensive position players when the coach has to outscheme the opponent every single time and it still doesn't really work when it matters? We're better off keeping the offense together instead.

Sure if him and TO want to sign for the vet minimums they can be the #4 and #5 options on this offense. That actually might be enough to make this Schitty offense work actually.

Its not the play design that was the problem. It was the play calling. I do not think that would change unless either Sanchez is given more freedom to call plays or someone like Callahan takes over the play calling!

I don't think you can have an incorrect play call when you have the AFC Pro Bowl team starting on offense. But then again, I guess I could be wrong and he will find a way to show me. I bet we'll see more of LT up the middle.

Yeah, who the hell has crazy expectations for a CB getting paid $16 million for the year to actually get an interception at some point in the year? Ridiculous. He needs at least $20 million before he's going to do that.

sh*t, give him 25 mil if he can get an INT.

I mean, lets be serious, he shuts down every WR he faces week in/week out....but doesnt get an INT. Yeah, he's not worth the money at all :suicide:

$16M is game changer money. As in he needs to actively make a play to win the game. How much do you think guys like Reed, Woodson, Bailey etc. are making?

For $16M give me a pass rusher or someone that just destroys the O-line like Ngata. I don't think Ngata even gets paid that much though. That's a gaudy salary. He's getting paid more than Sanchez or any of the WRs were, yet people get on Sanchez for not single handedly winning games. Revis is paid enough that he should be able to carry a team.

But he can't. Because a CB isn't a priority position. Not unless you're Deion Sanders good, which he clearly isn't.

Revis IS a game-changer...he shuts down #1 WRs every single week. If you think INTs are the only thing that defines how good a CB is, obviously you know nothing about football.

Agreed. That bothers me that he didn;t catch a pass thrown directly into his hands. For the $ he demanded and is now making that kinda stuff is expected. F him and the idea of bringing in more old men to help this team is getting as tired as our team was in the AFC championship

We praise Revis for turning every game into a 10-on-10 battle, while at the same time knocking him for not getting picks? Come on now, this is just a carryover of the anger from last offseason. I think its stupid that he's openly recruiting Chad Johnson, but for all his character flaws, he had another fantastic season and earned the money he got.

Imagine where we would have been this year with Cro and Coleman/Wilson/Cole covering teams' # 1 and 2 options?

Just shutting someone down is maybe $12M money. The dude is no Deion Sanders. Or Champ Bailey.
