Bleedin Green
Outside of his pass blocking, McKnight looked pretty good out there himself tonight. The Jets have a deep RB corps and that's exactly how they want it. These guys all have very different skillsets and the Jets will be more than happy to find ways to use each guy. And let's not forget, looking at the last two years this is clearly a team who likes to bring at least one fresh back into late in the season and into playoffs to ride while the rest of the league is all worn down. You hate McKnight, who is a Jet, because you hate the Patsies. Ah, well that I think anyone would agree with... but they are 2 different types of players, that happen to play the same position. They will be expected to contribute in different ways, and there is definitely room for both of them.

Smashmouth
Powell catches the ball and attacks hes a load and I would love to see him behind our 1st oline. Mcknight meh. It depends on how the rest of the roster shakes out. Logan Payne looked good in kick coverage, and Pat Turner looked good catching the football. Those are the two guys battling for the #5 job, IMHO. I think finding the coverage specialists is harder than finding returners - it's just that returners get a lot more notice.

Reminds me of...dare I say it...Brad Smith. yep I think Kerley is a bit more patient but I think Westhoff prefers the agressive KR. If you watch the great KR's they all seem to have that huge burst as soon as they catch the football which can sometimes catch the coverage off guard. Will just have to see how this pans out over the next 3 games. Deplama looked like he might be a good Receiver as well he got behind the defense a couple of times. never know

Agreed, but as I said in the other thread, when going to camp Saturday I really had no idea who DePalma was (which says a lot), but the kid jumped out to me on a number of occasions, both on offense and special teams. Definitely caught my eye considering what a complete no-namer he was. Like you said, I think he's just buried too deep on what actually looks to be a pretty talented WR depth chart, but I think he's making a very legitimate case for himself to earn a practice squad spot. Yeah, was wondering where that kid was (and I love that other people are now using this name for him ). He's another one who actually looked pretty decent in practice, but I think the Jets WR depth chart, in particular Turner and some of these undrafted guys, are looking a lot more talented than anticipated, and he's just getting buried in the process. TNJet
More like Bilal had more reps than Joe did. They both played well, and McKnights presence of competition in the return game makes him a lock to stay atleast another year. They are both capable backups in my opinion. Just think if they got a carry behing a good oline??

I cant wait to hear more about this kid Im sure he earned some more practice time with tonights performance/ The funny thing is it literally started off with the fact that they began practice with KR drills and the returners were standing directly in front of us and I was like, "who the hell is that guy?", looked him up on the roster sheet and turned to my friend and went "who the hell is Dan DePalma?" From there I just kept noticing that this kid who I had no idea who he was ten minutes earlier kept making plays, and I was trying to figure out how the hell I had never heard of him. Smashmouth
Another absurd proclamation after a hand full of carries in a one pre-season game... exactly whats absurd ? Did Mcknight light something up last year we might have missed ? If I had to comepare the 2 backs now I would say Powell is a pure RB who can also catch out of the backfield and runs hard. Im still not sure what to say about McKnight other than maybe he can return some kicks and catch a few passes out of the backfield. He will NEVER be the type of back to carry the load like Powell can hes just not built for it. If something was to happen to Greene this year I would say as of now Powell would probably take over as the full time RB with LT staying at 3rd down back. Word out of camp is the Jets were going to look at Mcknight for returns and the sh*tty wildcat and a 5th rounder is pushing him.

I'd like to see him play with the one's if he's going to be a part of the conversation there - just like I'd like to see McKnight get more work overall. The Jets like to draft RB's a year early. They did it with Greene replacing Jones, and I think they're doing it with Powell to replace LT. And I think Powell could steal the starting job from Greene just like LT did if he's not careful. I said it at the time of the pick: I think he's here to push Greene or take over for him. McKnight is more of a jack-of-all-trades back. Returns, wildcat, RB, even WR. He can carve a career out for himself like that. It's pretty easy to project Kerley into the #3 WR spot by next season. If he is, he might need to relinquish some of those other jobs. I agree with you on Powell but Im still not happy with what I see from McKnight also when it comes to Kerley he did not seem to have the burst I was expecting. He seemed to play much slower as a PRO then he did in College its why I hate those highlight films out of college. I really liked watching the DePalma kid play now that was some serious burst he plays very fast for a rookie and totally caught a lot of us by surprise. You know Westhoff will be singing his praise, lets hope the idiot Shott will see the same possibilities. Lets see what happens next week and if they work DePalma from the slot a bit more. Obrien2Toon
Thought they both looked good. But they're not really comparable. Powell will eventually be the one two punch with Greene, while McNight will be the change if pace, 3rd down back. Neither one could do what the other is capable of. Slats with greene I was refering to possible Injury I think Greene might be the Jets most overrated player. As for DePalma vs. Kerley, I think you were seeing those college highlight films in action last night. Kerley was playing against the ones, DePalma was playing against scrubs. He's going to look more bursty in comparison. Kerley very much impressed me last night. I'd advise you not to hold your breath when it comes to this DePalma kid. He's #7 on a list of 5, maybe 6 WR's. Ducasse's poor outing and Turner's injury means that the Jets probably need to carry an extra OL, cutting into the possibility of carrying 6 WR's. I'd like to see more from McKnight, too, but I wonder if we'll have a chance to see it in the preseason at all. I see him as a wildcat RB/WR hybrid, and they probably won't want to tip too many tricky plays before the season starts.

Slats with greene I was refering to possible Injury I think you saw what you were supposed to out of Kerley. He simply isn't that fast. His size/speed is what moved him down the draft. Kerley (and McElroy) are not physical specimens, but they can play the game. Agree with Slats on Depalma, there is a big difference in the quality of competition that he faced. Seems like a nice project and unlike everybody else I wasn't that impressed with Payne. He missed one or two catchable balls (not so bad I'd necessarily label them drops) and while he made a nice play on the 2nd kickoff, he seemed to get caught inside on the 1st kickoff and let the returner get outside him. I'm not 100% sure he had contain, but it was a minus play IMO. Disagree on Powell vs. McKnight. I saw what I expected out of each. McKnight made a few nice plays very early, but he does seem to take a bad play into the next.
