Official 2012-2013 New York Knicks Thread

Season was fairly predictable. Cant make any excuses for these injuries....they threw a bunch of role players on their last legs thinking they'd supplement Melo shooting his way to a ring. Thinking they wouldn't break down was stupid.

sh*tty was to build a team...watching even the Celtics...at least they have some youth.

Until Dolan steps away and they find a GM with full autonomy(Donnie just got too old), tell Dolan to dump is bizarre Zeke mancrush and let a guy build this team the proper way its going to be more of the same.

Melo forced his way out of Denver to come to exactly the same team he had in Denver....who's in a better spot now? The Nuggets looked like they were on a different planet than the Knicks with their speed.

Good, gritty win by Knicks MASH unit. Team has won every game it has needed to win thus far.

And LOL at Matt. You do realize that the Knicks beat Denver at the Garden with a healthy Melo scoring 34pts, right? Yeah, but that is selective memory for you and only what happens in Denver, when Nuggets have one of the best home records, matters.

Can you for once remove the KNICKSTAPE bumper sticker off your forehead...just once?

ANd pick up the paper this morning...more Melo Drama....it never ends with this guy. They need to lock Kurt and Melo in the same room for 30 minutes....maybe then he'll learn how to be a big boy.

Props to Kurt Thomas.

Good win by the Knicks to snap the losing streak...but this team sucks.  This is the team I expected to see start of the season.  Old, decrepit, slow and injury plagued.

Nice start to the season, fun to watch when it was clicking...knew it was only a matter of time...but now, its bad.  Dont see this team beating anyone in the playoffs.

What Melo drama?  I read all the articles this morning.  The Devil Dr. Lisa Callahan hasn't cleared Melo to play.  Unlike Derek Rose who has been cleared to play but refuses.

You're the one who is incredibly biased in this situation, utterly blinded by your Melohate.  It's ridiculous.  You're the fool who said Melo was faking an injury.

Again, bash the Knicks doctors all you want but THEY as in the doctors are keeping him out.

Go back to the beach, JiF.  We'll call you when the season is over.

Haha!  You cant tell me you're watching this team optimistic about their playoff chances.

Healthy, absolutely I'd be optimistic.  And I'm just talking about Melo and Tyson.  Forget STAT.

But right now, of course you can't be optimistic with everyone hurt.  The one thing to be optimistic about, however, is that even though they've been devestated by injuries they remained .500 (a sign of a good team) and kept the division lead.

Teams that aren't good that get hit by serious injuries go into the tank.  The Knicks haven't.

They've won 2 of their last 6.

The point being, the injuries were predictable as the year went on.  The biggest concern I had with the roster.  I agree, Melo and Tyson returning obviously have a huge effect but the roster sucks outside of them...so...I just dont see it being enough.

And they've won 7 of their last 13.  Looking at micro streaks can give you differing results.

Anyway, I agree with you.  The roster is a concern when you consider the fact that Steve Novak was 3 for 17 from 3pt range on the road trip (17%). That's the team's key 3pt specialist.

SMC, you have to admit the future of this club looks grim with their contracts.

Until they stop appeasing to Melo's every last wish this team is going nowhere.

Grim?  Contracts? Do you even try to substantiate what you say?

All the contracts come off the books in 2 years.  The Knicks literally have no one signed when Melo, Tyson, and Stat's contracts expire.  This is a 3 yr window (including this year) with the Knicks maintaining the midlevel exceptions in both the next 2 years.

Bullsh*t. Denver should have taken the lease on The Garden in the Melo trade, however. They took everything else and left you with a mushy chucker who is breaking down.

And Denver has another 1st round losing team like they have been the last 2 seasons but blame Melo for it.

Besides Utah rid themselves of a fat little cry baby who killed  2 coaches in consecutive stops and lays on Billy King's couch telling him what moves to make.

Haha. This post will be so funny in a few weeks when you get swept by the Bulls (who will have Derrick Rose back and are 3-0 without him over you anyway), then Don Chaney...er, Mike Woodson gets replaced by Jim Boeheim.

Your predictions never work out for you.

If they can pass Memphis and get home court, they're not, but their lack of an elite scorer is going to make it tough to beat a team like the Grizzlies.

The Spurs dont have an elite scorer either.

I get Knicks fans convinced themselves you need a go to guy/scorer to win in the playoffs...but Denver is freakin awesome.

The Grizzlies are a horrible matchup for every team in the league. Beef up front, defense, and just enough scoring. Hard to watch, but nasty.

The Spurs might be old, but they have a way better team than Denver. I don't even think it's close when you add in the ridiculous amount of playoff experience they have.

As great as Ty Lawson is becoming, Tony Parker is outplaying him (by a wide margin IMO). He's been a more efficient scorer and is far more experienced.

I know you love Faried, but Leonard somehow doesn't get nearly the same amount of love, despite the fact that he's a better all-around player (and the better defender). I guess it's because he doesn't have a cool nickname.

Denver's biggest problems include defending the 3, turning the ball over, and horrible free throw shooting. That's the type of stuff that they need to improve upon to follow the Spurs (current model) of winning as a team vs. relying on superstars.

How is Denver a first round losing team?

They've lost in the 1st round the last 2 seasons after Melo was traded and they'll likely face the Clippers in the 1st round with the Clippers having home court.  Denver is also a bad road team (30-3 at home, 17-19 on the road).

The Clippers are guaranteed home court in the 1st round with the division essentially locked up.  Denver can't have home court in 1st round unless, as JH mentioned, they get the 3rd seed over Memphis

No doubt the Spurs are the better team.

But simply passing off Denver as a team thats going down in round one again isnt fair. If Denver played in the east they'd be a lock for the ECF.

I'm not writing them off, but barring them getting home court, they're a longshot to advance IMO.

As for your second statement, if the queen had balls, she'd be the king.

Their record is inflated by their home court, they turn the ball over, don't defend, and can't shoot free throws.  That is a perfect recipe for postseason success.
