Darrelle Revis arrives in New York for MRI, says ‘I’m all good’ while entering hospital

Darrelle Revis is back in New York — for now.

The Jets star cornerback, who could be traded to the Buccaneers any day now, arrived for an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan at 9:25 a.m. Monday wearing a Chicago Bulls baseball cap. The cornerback said, "I'm all good," as far as he knew anyway, before heading into an elevator to for his appointment with Dr. Russell Warren, the Giants’ team doctor, who surgically repaired Revis' left knee on October 16 after the Pro Bowl defensive back tore his ACL on Sept. 23 against the Dolphins.

Even before Revis had arrived at the hospital, the Jets' offseason workout program was beginning some 35 miles away in Florham Park, N.J. Revis is expected to head to the Jets' team facility later Monday to join up with the team that he likely won't be playing with during the upcoming season.

Revis would prefer not to be in New York or New Jersey at the moment. The injured superstar had hoped to remain in Arizona, rehabbing at the Fischer Sports in Phoenix where he spent much of the offseason, instead of being under the same roof as GM John Idzik, who is trying to trade him.

But in this circumstance, Revis' contract — and the Jets — held him hostage. The cornerback would forfeit a $1 million roster bonus, a $1 million workout bonus and a $1 million bonus for reporting to training camp should he not complete 80% of the team's offseason workouts. The Jets have held firm on this issue, forcing Revis to come back to the Atlantic Health despite his injury situation and a potential trade.

Revis appears to be making strides in his rehab; last week on NFL Network, he was seen running on a treadmill.

Why would he be unconformable?  He won’t be standing in Idzik’s corner with a dunce cap on.  He’ll be in a gym with 90 or so other players working out.  He’ll be with Rex Ryan, who loves him.

This trade is probably the best thing that could have happened to him.  He is going to get paid close to what he wants with out a lot of hassle.   He won’t really even have to prove he is  still “Revis” before getting  paid.

If he is bothered by the media (ha ha)  just say no comment, and keep walking.

He doesn’t like living in NYC.  He heads to Arizona as soon as the season ends.  He will be living in warm Tampa in the winter, with scantly clad women, and no state tax.

This is heart breaking for the guy.

If this deal falls through he'll probably be on suicide watch.  He'll have to prove he can still play at a dynamic level before any one will pay him half his demands.

The New York Jets have put talks to trade Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on hold as they begin voluntary workouts, sources told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, as they get their first chance to examine the star cornerback.

This is the team's first chance to check out Revis, who is rehabbing a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. On Monday, Revis was examined by Dr. Russell Warren, who performed surgery on the knee in October, at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

New Jets general manager John Itzik will have his first chance to meet face to face with Revis on Monday, too.

The Jets will evaluate, then, according to sources, and decide the "right thing to do."

Even though his days with Jets appear numbered, backup quarterback Tim Tebow showed up early Monday morning, as promised, for the start of the team's offseason program.

Receiver Santonio Holmes didn't report. He's still rehabbing his surgically repaired foot and taking classes at Ohio State, so he may not show up until late in the spring.

But unlike Revis, Holmes doesn't have a workout bonus in his contract, which was renegotiated last month. He took a $3.5 million pay cut and will make a guaranteed $7.5 million this year.

Tebow, known for his early arrivals, checked in about 90 minutes before the start of an 8 a.m. team meeting. How long he remains with the Jets has been an ongoing question throughout the offseason. The team is prepared to part ways with the quarterback and they've been trying to trade him.

Revis wanted to remain in Arizona, where he has been rehabbing his knee since January, but he reported because the team refused to excuse him for two weeks, sources told ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini.

He preferred Arizona, in part, to avoid the distraction of being with the team during trade talks. There's a chance he could be dealt before the April 25 draft.

Revis also has a $1 million workout bonus that he would forfeit if he doesn't participate in 83 percent of the voluntary workouts.

I'm praying Revis recovers from being "held hostage".  This has to be pretty traumatic for him.

BTW sources familiar with his thinking said not only did he feel like he was held hostage, but that he got the feeling the Jets hate America, God, liberty, and life itself. He said the only thing to change his mind will be 700 billion dollars personally handed to him, in cash, by 700 nude white women. Muhfckas crazy. He likes the #7 because it is one more than Jordan won championships.

It's always funny hearing owners, the media, fans, etc claiming some player wants to spend the rest of their careers with a certain team in a certain place while they barely spend a second in these places.   They have a home and really live in that home in some other state.   You see this in every sport these days where fans get so pissed that some player bails on them or doesn't show the same love for their city or area as they do.

And the reality is the Jets aren't even a NY team.  They play in NJ. They practice in NJ.  They aren't even the most loved football team in NY or NJ.

So a player who would rather spend his time in South Florida or Arizona or wherever a player wants to live wouldn't consider leaving a team who has really been treating him like a second class citizen this offseason?

Yes, Revis has his attitude and issues and he's greedy, but as I said before,  if Revis is the best player on your team and the best CB in the NFL you kind of e treat him like a star or you dump him because you don't think he is one.    They signed Sanchez to a crappy long term contract and he sucks.  Call it a bad move if you will, but Revis is the Jet's star, and this offseason they have treated him like the evil step child nobody wants.     You can say Idzik has done a great job of keeping things quiet,  I just think he's being a bit too arrogant and keeping his distance without any credibility at this point.  Then again, it might just be a Woody thing and Idzik is a new employee trying to impress his boss.

This entire Revis offseason story is just pointless.   Either sign him long term, trade him, or dont do anything and lose him for nothing next year.  The Jets let this story run and are probably just as much responsible for it as everybody else.   They could have let him Rehab in Arizona, sent somebody out to check on him, and nobody in the media has a chance to throw out more stupid stories.   Instead it's another one of those, "you need to be here or don't get your bonus" conversations.     So while Holmes is taking classes, Revis is forced to go somewhere else to continue his rehab.  Makes sense.  Sorry but the Jets are just as big a part of this nonsense as the media.

They are just advertising to the other Teams that Revis's knee is good. They could have let him rehab in Zona, but his knee examination would not have been shouted by every media outlet in the US. Shake the tree see if there may be any more last minute interest to drive the price up.

He owns a home in Miami, but he does his off season work outs at Fischer Sports in Phoenix Arizona every year.  During the lock out there were many articles about this  when  Wilson went out there to work out with him.

Hyperbole...I'd agree to a 30-day ban for this guy.
