Cousins was brutal in his spot starts this year, it would be a waste of a pick. You go the other way if you think Geno can't hack it, not because of some benign off the field transgressions. So he yelled and acted like a d*ck, since when is being a good guy a prerequisite for being our QB?  Christ, Brady left his pregnant wife for another model, a month before she gave birth to his son, not exactly the move of a choir boy.  Those dick picks could literally happen to anyone who's ever had a girl see him naked: it's not as if Geno posted them himself.

None of it makes him look good, but it's not as if any of this was illegal. He'll probably get a talking to by Idzik and the PR team, like Torre did to Jeter when he was dating Mariah and he'll lay low for a bit and be more under the radar.

I was on board with Cousins for awhile, but I watched him closely in those last 2 or 3 games where they sat RGIII, and I was surprisingly Unimpressed with him. I saw him make some poor throws, and make some poor decisions, and I also was surprised at some lack of arm strength. I would much rather go Vick or McCown if we are bringing in a FA vet.

RE: Cousins--the smart thing to do in Washington is to get Cousins out of there, if only to placate RGIII. Jay Gruden already came out and anointed RGIII the no-doubt starter, and it's not like Cousins played well enough to justify keeping him around as a distraction. If he gets floated for a conditional third (that turns into a two based on playing time), he'd be an attractive option for plenty of teams.

As it relates to Geno, Idzik realistically has this offseason and next to find a franchise QB, or at least one that can bridge the franchise respectably until they get one. If they think there's even a chance that Geno is coming off the rails at all, they desperately need to protect themselves one way or another.

Would I take Cousins over Geno? In a heartbeat, and if thats the best they can do in FA, then I'm all for it, but hopefully, they can do even better in FA and the draft.

Whatever happened to that video that was posted on Jet Nation portraying Geno as the second coming of Mother Threresa. This after reports that he was doing Bong hits with that Winslow thug, and now his god almighty attitude because he doesnt like flying coach, and not being able to listen to his gangster rap.

Dude, if you have 85 QBR, and throw for 25, with 10 picks, you can get away with this crap, but when you are a turnover machine, with a 65 QBR, and rated last in the league, it wont take much for most NFL teams to give you a one way ticket to the CFL. Lucky for Geno REX is our coach, as he loves thugs, and gangsters. Heck , most times he makes them Captain.

Cmon Joewillie - what choice did Rex have in handing Eugene the starting QB job. Sanchez was injured, Garrard was unable to play and Smith was Idzik's pick. No way Simms would be allowed to start.  I would find it disturbing if Eugene was the starter next year. That would mean Idzik really didn't want to look bad in picking him with the 2nd round pick.  We need to sign a vet and draft a QB and let him beat out Eugene. I bet WHOEVER they draft as a QB will be light years better than Eugene.  There are so many talented QB's coming out its ridiculous.

If you think about it, like really think about it... Geno, escorted off a jet plane... it's probably just foreshadowing.

wow the captain didnt even want him on the plane, and he gets escorted OUT of LAX altogether.  That's embarrassing.  You don't make a scene at an airport or on the plane.  There is zero tolerance for any crap.  They don't care who you are, especially if you're the starting qb for the NY Jets LOL.  Headline: Jet kicked off of Jet.  Wow he just disgraced our team symbol

Sorry but you don't get KICKED OUT OF AN AIRPORT for nothing. He wasn't even allowed to reschedule on another airline. Hilarious. He obviously lost his cool and didnt convince the cops with his side of the story.  Another example of this moron's lack of maturity, lack of character and his commitment to being a spoiled brat.

Uh that's a heck of a post. POST OF THE YEAR!

The thing I like about irony, is when it can be referenced in a subtle manner. You did a good job with that.  :eusa_shifty:

Just voted BEST collegetown in America by one college publication. Is this why?

only time I was ever in Ithaca  I took a wiz in the middle of the street with traffic on both sides of me and spent 2 hours looking for a guy who had already taken a cab home

that's about all I remember

And nobody even blinked an eye at your urinating in public. The students do it all the time as the bars get packed and you cant even get near the restrooms, and quite frankly, with some of the bars, the street is cleaner than the restroom.

I hope you werent downtown and had to walk up to Cornell, as that is like scaling a cliff to get up there and to do it bombed, well, even with all the practice I had, I still rarely made it without either passing out, puking, or both.

By the way a cab? Really? We have like one cab company in the whole damned city, and when his car breaks down, then we have none.

Soo this has been pretty much squashed right? Geno had his earphones removed, responded angrily, was questioned and then released. Not even an incident report filled out?  At least he's having a better week than Sharper.

I saw the video.  He wasn't "escorted" out of the airport, and I thought he reserved sound judgement when "addressing" the TMZ video man.  He could have said a lot more, or pulled an Alec Baldwin.  I'm also glad he had support in the area show up as quickly as they did, he could've been mobbing with a "crew".

It just seems if he had to be thrown off the plane, there would have been an incident report made. I dunno how these things work, but it sounds like a disgruntled airline worker antagonized Geno and he responded. Maybe Geno gave him/her attitude to provoke it, but he doesn't seem that stupid or loosely wound to start sh*t over hanging a phone up. Who knows though.

According to a post on airliners.net:

The accounts are getting conflated.

From what I've been able to glean, he refused to take his headphones off, because the law no longer requires one to do so. FA decided he was on the phone. He claimed he wasn't. FA grabbed headphones/phone by accounts of others. Smith found that unacceptable (wouldn't anyone?). He was asked to leave and then he asked to call the police to report the treatment. He was not escorted from the aircraft nor did the airline call police from multiple accounts I read.

So usually when these things go down, the airline rebooks you. But they chose to standby him, which was a bad move. He was already annoyed and possibly assaulted and then they wouldn't confirm a seat. So he got mad, and they called cops and had him leave.

And I'm not one to support the race card, but it honestly sounds as if he was prejudged on this one twice. Once re: being a prima Donna on the aircraft. And then at the new gate for being a "big black man." I've seen people who don't look like him act worse and not be escorted from terminal nor denied boarding.

He might just have a point here.

If anyone should be complaining here its Geno.

That's an excellent point.  It seems two people were having a bad day, and the person with the more authority got her way.

Thanks for this new spin.  But at some point the publicist will get involved and Geno-the-choir-boy will be defended with more tenacity than an airline stewardess. If I was paid to protect my million-dollar asset, the first place I would attend with my "view of transpired events" would be on a site like airliner.net.

He's the face of a franchise, would it kill him to travel in a collared shirt? or at least avoid temporary un-pleasantries?

OMG, seriously?  You're chastising him because of what he was wearing?  I guess he should just throw out all of his old t-shirts and just wear suits every day for the rest of his career.  The people on this site just come up with more bullsh*t by the hour.  It's embarrassing to read half of the sh*t that people post here lately.

Chastising? No.

But it sure is curious that the fella sporting a "Bernard Pollard Fan Club" tee-shirt as his avatar is embarrassed by my desire for Geno Smith to represent the team well. I could give two sh*ts about fashion, but when your dick shows up on the internet, and your jersey is on my kid's back, perhaps you could kiss a baby or two...sign autographs or something, or at the very least, when you show up on an airplane with a black tee shirt, black hat, black sneakers, and dangling bling...not act so surprised if an airline official singles you out.

Keep your name out the papers.

I'm so glad to see racism is alive and well on JetNation.  There was nothing wrong with what he was wearing.  It gets more embarrassing the more you comment on it.

Come on, man.  I didn't mention race when I made fun of Mark Sanchez' headband.

I had similar comments for Matt Leinart when his party pics came out.  If you're in the doghouse for recent transactions, and you want to be treated like "the Man"...dress like one, and don't get kicked out of places.  How is that racist?  I have plenty of reasons to dislike Geno Smith, his ethnicity is NOT one of them.

I see what you're doing, but of any of the starting QBs playing today, I would say Andrew Luck needs little in the way of image repair.  But since we're doing this, a dangling ear-bud?  If you're going to stop to be with the fans, give them a nice picture.  geeZ.

Here's one of my favorite sports stories:

Shaq, when he was in his second year with the Magic, was out at a club one night, chilling. He's got a columnist with him working on a piece about what Shaq's life is like off the court. So, Shaq decides it's time to leave, and he and the reporter jump in his giant Escalade and roll out of the parking lot. They don't get 500 feet before a cop pulls him over. The cop comes to the window and acts like a real a$$hole, saying he pulled them over because they were "swerving." The cop accuses Shaq of driving drunk, being high, etc etc. Shaq just nods, denies everything, and ultimately gets a ticket for reckless operation of a motor vehicle. When they drove off, the columnist asks Shaq what he planned to do about what was obviously police harassment. Shaq said, "I'm going to pay the ticket. Keep him (the cop) from getting his name in the paper."

That's a long way of saying that athletes are going to get their balls busted by the public and they have to know when to back away. If a stewardess tells you to do something as simple as turning your phone off for five minutes until the plane gets off the ground, you should do it, especially if you're famous.
