UnknownJetFan
Any word on RB Johnson as far as Jets working behind the scenes to get him on board?. We obviously need speed at the RB position and unless we get it from the draft, Goodson is a huge gamble between coming off the knee injury and not getting any jail and/or more suspension time. SouthernJet
my guess his asking price is real high and after other 31 GMs (titans out) stop lauging asses off, he will start Round 2 with lower asking price and Jets will schedule a visit

Not really a huge gamble, only getting paid a little over a million this year and we had the 6th best rushing attack last year without him. Ehh, I've seen this a few times and it's a tad disingenuous. Yes, they were 6th in terms of rushing average and total rushing yards, but they were so terribly inconsistent and just not a dominating unit, outside of Norleans. They caught their stride towards the end of the season, but never were a top 6 rushing attack. They didn't at all pass the eye-test to me (for what it's worth), but going further than that, they were 23rd in rushing DVOA and the real kicker is that they were 30th in variance, which shows that they were a bottom three unity when it came to consistent production. i.e. their play was too sporadic: they'd dominate one week then get stuffed the following one. Granted, they did play the 11th hardest defensive schedule, but they just were never a consistent unit, and while some of that had to do with injuries (Ivory, Goodson etc.) and rookie play (winters) they need to be far, far more consistent if they want to be called a top 6 rushing offense. #27TheDominator
Supposedly, he's not giving teams workouts. That's a red flag, to say the least. That's pretty funny. On Thursday I was talking to my cousin about what Johnson has left in the tank. I told him that I don't see what the big deal is. You have him run and if he times crazy fast, you figure he is fine. I think there was a story like that when Mumbles got Moss. The guy's game is based on speed. Can he still run?

If it drives his asking price down to $2.5m guaranteed/year, that works for me. Huge upside at that price.

LAD_Brooklyn
Supposedly, he's not giving teams workouts. That's a red flag, to say the least. He doesn't have to workout. Either you like him or not. Seen that on PFT as they responded to an article indicating him working out for teams. That article wasn't even being realistic as he's still recovering from a torn meniscus. He can't pass a physical as of now, so I wonder how that hedges on him getting the contract he would get if healthy.

If they had a passing game, your opinion would change. Having that good of a rushing game without a passing game is impressive regardless of whatever stat they have for this. Had they had a passing game, games like the first miami game would have made our running more successful. While those stats do prove a point, if we had a consistent passing game we would have been much better on the ground IMO

While those stats do prove a point, if we had a consistent passing game we would have been much better on the ground IMO The passing game is bad, no question, but that doesn't in turn make the running game better than it is. The numbers don't lie: we beat up on some teams quite badly and were absolutely stymied by others. While that may allow us to accumulate a nice ypc, which is also aided by the QB running for 400 yards on a nice clip, it doesn't make us a top 6 rushing attack. Will a good passing game augment the ground game? Of course. But pretty much by most metrics we were a below average running game that was wildly inconsistent. In my opinion, if you want to be considered a top 6 rushing team, you run for the 4.6 or so ypc every single week, not 7+ one and ~2 the next. I like Ivory and think our Oline will improve so long as Winters builds on the last couple of games. However, if we want to be a top rushing team, we need to upgrade on the interior over Colon and even consider Winters if he stagnates, as well as add a back to compliment Ivory who can actually catch the ball. Yeah I mean I agree, I just also think we didn't see the absolute potential of our running game due to our passing game being non-existant for some games. I actually am unaware if Goodson can catch the ball, but if he can, and is healthy, I wouldn't go for a 3.5/4 million dollar a year CJ. I don't see him being signed until after the draft. Just my opinion though. I never thought too much of him.

He hasn't had many opportunities to have a featured role due to injuries and being lower on the depth, but he seems to perform whenever given the chance. My only concern with him is if he still has the same speed and explosiveness coming off his knee injury. If he can come back in the same shape as last year, I would be very eager to keep him on the team.

He has a trial coming up after his next court appearance, and at this pace he could get be in court for a long time with this, and there is no way of knowing he will be in camp, I agree the guy is exactly what we needed last year and possibly coming up this year but he really blew it, he may get cut after we draft or sign Johnson, I think there is a cap savings. Wish him the best in court just think he will be up against a state police system that is corrupt in many ways, I remember the Dead concert where the State Police made a bunch fans run across a highway in front of Giants Stadium, a couple died.
