Decker status uncertain

Eric Decker

Chris Lopresti of WFAN is reporting the New York Jets #1 wide receiver Eric Decker will be a game time decision due to his balky hamstring.  Decker’s playing time has been severely limited since re-aggravating the training camp injury in week two against Green Bay.  Decker missed his second consecutive practice despite the hamstring apparently feeling better than it did yesterday.  If Decker and David Nelson (ankle) are both unable to go, the Jets will be left with Jeremy Kerley, Greg Salas, Saalim Hakim, TJ Graham, Walter Powell, and Chris Owusu.

The organization realizes that without Decker, they have virtually nothing. This is where a good general manager would help. Sign James Jones at $4M per and you still get to sit on the $17M you apparently think you need to re-sign Wilkerson and Kerley, without forcing Decker to play these games and thus ruin his season.

Very soon they are going to have to realize Decker needs to sit for 3-4 weeks, or they will lose him for the season

Just let it heal.  What is the point of having him go at 50% week after week?  Let it heal, and get him all the way back when he is healthy.

Who are the #3 and #4 if/when Decker and Nelson are out?

Hakim? Amaro/Cumberland? Powell?

They got this too.

they will run more read option and try to get the screen game going if decker is out imho

kerley and salas and amaro will probably be the main targets

You can't just stop doing anything and assume his hamstring will get better, you need to work it.  Even doing rehab you run and cut, but the vast majority of the time you don't realize how tight/injured it is until you open it up and go 100% on it.  You can feel absolutely perfect until you go out into game action. It's lingering, but there's really not much you can do here besides give it treatment and test it out when you think you're able to.
