The Jets won 5 games last yr with that QB, that defense and that special teams . Anyone who thinks the Jets will have a shot at Sam Darnold in 2018 is a candidate for a rubber room . In December Chan said he wanted to be back in 2017, then a few weeks later he "retires" all while other coaches/assistants got fired. Coincidentally of course, but nah he wasn't forced out. FidelioJet Posted January 15, 2017 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Bowles is a lame duck head coach, almost certain to be fired after next year. it's going to be tough to bring in a quality OC under those circumstances. The only way someone quality gets brought in is if Woody mandates an OC that will be the likely successor to Bowles. Which is a huge longshot for that to happen. Coincidentally he didn't deserve to be fired. When the Jets interview a RB coach and then tell him we're not interested in making him the OC and send him home finding one is a struggle and typical Jets. There is no OC anywhere who is offered a job with the promise he will become the HC a year later. That is precisely the idiot owner no one in their right mind would go work for.
