Max Mitchell Returns; Fant Still Out; Davis Day to Day

Robert Saleh spoke to the media on Monday and was asked what his message to his team upon their return.

Practice was good. It was well-needed. Just going through and communicating and doing football stuff, but knock on wood, we’re as healthy as you could possibly be at this point. I felt like the guys attacked the day as we needed to.

Injury Updates

• Corey, we’ll continue to go day-to-day. He worked real hard. He didn’t go anywhere. He stayed here the entire week, so he’s been working hard. We’ll see how it goes throughout the week.
• Plan on opening up Max Mitchell’s practice window.
• George Fant will not practice this week.
• Sheldon Rankins, he’ll be out.

Elijah Moore Status

Without giving up too much from a schematic standpoint, Elijah’s a special football player and we’re going to continue to find ways to get him going. It’s not as easy as, ‘Alright, let’s just start throwing him the football and throw him into a certain spot.’ Our offense is very multiple, the advantage of our offense is that we can take receivers and move them anywhere we need to. But at the same time, Elijah is a good football player and we’re continuing to try to find ways to best utilize his skill set to get him the football.

When it comes to Elijah it will be interesting to see if wide receiver coach Miles Austin can help get the young player going in the right direction again.

Crazy that Fant is still out. I thought for sure he’d be returning this week.

Yeah I guess short term IR was needed only so he wasn't lost for the season. Definitely seems like he is going to miss a few more weeks.

Is this stemming/lingering from the same knee issue from late last season or did he do something new to it in Sept?

I think it is related but I don't remember seeing the team confirm that.

Saleh is kind of short with the injury updates which I like. Less info is better.

If we had held him back from the beginning of the season, he'd probably be ready to go 100% by now. I felt we rushed him back a bit too soon.

Fant could probably play but they are waiting until he is 100% so that we can have him for the late season push to win the division by two games.

Agreed.

The line is doing it's job, no need to rush Fant back at this time.

This line up with What Rich Cimini been saying for weeks. That the jets aren't sure when or if fant will come back this season.

Im not sure I agree.  If they wanted to delay him wouldnt they just open his practice window to get him in shape?   Unless Fant can work "on the side", lift, etc and we can keep a different player active and then open his practice window later in the year? 

I would think they would prefer to have him getting practice reps in at some point to replace Cedric at RT but maybe he can do more work then I think even if his window isnt "open"

Dint think national media is giving Jets their due for the ridiculous rash of injuries on our O line.  Two starting tackles and starting guard down for pretty much whole season and even backups injured with a starter we signed late pre season playing with a torn rotator cuff.   Yet the guys covering our games hardly mention it or give the coaching staff little credit.   Don’t really care just find it a  odd passing on a pretty big story for a big market team having a surprising season
