124
Dammit! Marion Barber III picked by Dallas. Why the hell did they pick him with Julius Jones' future? For a future back-up? What a waste. I really wanted to draft this kid to be the successor to Curtis Martin but oh well, possibly Ciatrick Fason?

JonEJet
Kerry Rhodes S | (6'2", 209, 4.58) | LOUISVILLE Scouts Grade: 63 Selected by: New York Jets Round: 4 Pick (Overall): 22(123) View by: Round | Player | NCAA School | Position | NFL Team | Flag | All Ranked Players | NFL Draft History You are signed into Insider and have access to the exclusive draft content below. Strengths: Possesses good athletic ability, shows good burst out of cuts and has very good short-area man-to-man cover skills. Shows a second gear when tracking the ball downfield and is tall enough to compete for jump balls. Takes adequate angles to the ball while it's in the air and has the range to cover the deep half of the field. Reads opposing quarterbacks' eyes well, has much improved ball skills and has developed into a playmaker. Has good leaping ability and can challenge tall receivers on the jump ball. Has very good size and some upside in run support. Blocked one kick in each of the last three seasons and should make an immediate contribution on special teams. Weaknesses: Doesn't play with a mean streak, isn't physical in coverage despite size and isn't an intimidating presence over the middle. While he is big enough to line up in the box he doesn't have great lower body strength and struggles to hold ground. Doesn't use hands all that well and takes too long to shed blocks. Doesn't take great angles to the ball and takes too long to read plays so is a step late getting to the ball at times. Lacks ideal recognition skills and is vulnerable to play-action, as well as pump fakes. Overall: Rhodes red-shirted in 2000 and he appeared in six games in 2001. He provided good depth and contributed on special teams while appearing in thirteen games during the 2002 season. Rhodes started 13 games in 2003 finishing the season with 82 tackles, three tackles-for-loss and one sack. He also forced a fumble and recorded three interceptions that year. Rhodes started all 12 games in 2004, finishing the season with 57 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, no sacks, two forced fumbles and six interceptions. Rhodes has the physical tools to take a chance on in the early stages of Day 2. He isn't physical enough, he needs to improve his overall strength, and he needs to develop his tackling skills. However, Rhodes has an impressive combination of size, speed and athleticism, and the light seemed to come on a little bit as he developed into more of a playmaker as a senior. If nothing else, Rhodes is worth taking a chance on in the fourth-to-fifth round range as a developmental FS prospect that can contribute immediately on special teams

The Troll
I'd have prefered to sit at 127 and draft Shazor. I like Rhodes, but he sn't as physical as I'd like.

BlackLabelJetsFan
I wonder...Donnie H must've liked him (and its a decent pick) and I bet they figured he might not last past Green Bay's back-to-back picks right in front of our original 4th Rounder.
