I thought I'd chime in on this subject.

I'm not hooked into JI or JN on a personal level as many of you guys are, I just love talking Jets football, and the messageboard thing is a great distraction between trades at work. That being said, I truly don't see a problem charging a fee. Honestly, how many of you here have chipped in when the hat is passed at Christmas on JI, of GG (where I am blocked at work, so I never visit anymore)?

big difference .The JetsInsider Cristmas grab bag wasn't a JI thing....It was my idea...i ran it and nobody wanted a part of it untill there was 2 pages of people wanting to participate.

3 or 4 people recieved gifts but never sent gifts out  ...you know who coughed up $30 gifts for them? Me ,out of my own pocket...nobody wanted anypart of it then.

When it was all said in done you paid $30 and got a christman present....here you pay $55 to get what? the privlage of something that was free to you 3 days ago?

And stuff you can get in 20 minutes for free?

Basically you pay $55 to talk to Jetgirl in a private room about football:shock:

Ill pass.

Smizz...I'm not talking about the grab bag. That was a noble effort on your part and I jumped in. I'm talking about donations made to the sites at the end of the year, maybe you never noticed it, I think it's kind of a tradition on the bigger, or busier sites. My financial situation may different than others, I always contribute, as many do without blinking an eye.

Ive donated plenty of my hard earned dollars to the soothsayer foundation....He banned me.

I look at it like this....

Your friend invites you over for dinner and to watch the game....you eat some wings drink a couple beers and then when you are finished you say " hey...here is a couple of bucks for dinner and stuff"....

but what's going on here is....he invites you over for dinner and feeds you his food and then when you are all finished he hands you a bill for your meal.

Why invite me over in the first place?

Not to get political, but IMHO the people we need to channel our anger at are the f'ers blowing stuff up, not fellow Jet fans. I propose that all hachets are burried before the season starts.

If not, well...I understand I guess...that's why I don't get too personal, this stuff is supposed to be fun.

I gotta wonder how soon a post in the free forum that is getting alot of hits will suddenly get moved to tghe "optional" forum.

And with everything that has been said in this thread, I gotta laugh at "gameface" and his staunch defense of the Soothsayer and his site.

The history of Jetman67/gameface

2 years ago-syas what he wants, whenever he wants, however he wants.

1 year ago gets bitch slapped around by Sooth and ends up in tgg.com

9 months ago-Submits to Sooth's every bidding and crawls back to JI

6 months ago-Becomes Sooth's man bitch and runs around defending him at any chance he can get.

3 months ago-buys a lifesize cardboard cut out of Sooth to always ride in his PT cruiser with him so they can always be together.

Sad, man

I would have absolutely no problem chipping in here, even though I don't post here much, and the only one that responds to my posts here is Max (good PR there my man).

Are you saying that I care more about post counts then the integrity of the board?

Wow you are one smart dude!!!!

There is no hatchet. Im not a member of JetsInsider...Im a Mod @ JetNation.com...the 2 obviously can't co-exist and it's not because of us here.

There is no hatchet. There is no anger.

If things didn't go the way they did...we wouldn't have JetNation...i wouldn't be a mod here.

Im happy,we are all very, very happy.

Damn, it's good to see 5ever and YJF here. Who cares whether JI is charging? Move on. This is not the first time something like this has happened.

Back in 2000 ( I think) I used to post on JetsConfidential's message board, along with a bunch of other regulars on other boards (i.e. MSGold or Lefty Larry, Matt from Matts Greenhouse and a bunch of others I can't recall momentarily). Anyway, after they started charging a fee to post on their board everyone scattered and/or created new boards. I ended up on JI with a bunch of others. Anyway the moral of the story is this, history always repeats itself and there may even come a time when JN has to charge believe it or not. My suggestion, get used to it and move on or pay up.

P.s. The other moral is I'm a poor bastard.

Biker gang files suit against Harrah's over deadly 2002 brawl

Thursday, September 25, 2003

(09-25) 14:41 PDT LAS VEGAS (AP) --

Nine members of the Mongols motorcycle gang have sued Harrah's Entertainment, claiming the company's Laughlin hotel-casino failed to provide adequate security during a 2002 biker rally.

Two Hells Angels and one Mongols motorcycle gang member died and at least 12 people were injured after a brawl involving guns and knives inside Harrah's Laughlin casino.

In the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court on Wednesday, the Mongols are seeking unspecified damages for injuries suffered during the melee and for causing "anguish, despair and emotional distress."

A Harrah's spokesman said the company does not comment on pending litigation.

The lawsuit says hotel security knew the Hells Angels would be at the rally in Laughlin, a Colorado River resort town about 100 miles south of Las Vegas near the Arizona border. The lawsuit also says hotel security should have known that there was a high probability the Hells Angels would attempt to harm members of the Mongols Motorcycle Club.

"Harrah's employees witnessed numerous Hells Angels coming through the doors with guns, knives and various other weapons in hand ready for use," the lawsuit states. "Plaintiffs did not observe hotel security personnel ... attempt to stop the Hells Angels or ask that the weapons carried by the Hells Angels be left outside or to completely disarm the Hells Angels."

The plaintiffs in the case were listed as Southern California residents Alex Alcantar, Davey Camargo, Benjamin Leyva, Enrique Munoz, Roger Pinney, Walter Ramirez, Jesus Rodriguez, Raymond Santos, Benjamin Silva.

Authorities have made one arrest in connection with the brawl. Calvin Brett Schaefer was arrested in April 2002, but was later released and charges against him were dropped in July 2002.

Investigators have said they are continuing to review videotape of the fight and are sorting through a list of potential defendants in the case.

Schaefer, a member of the Hells Angels, has since been arrested in Arizona as part of a two-year undercover federal investigation into gun and drug trafficking as well as murder-for-hire.

Thirty-six arrest warrants resulted from that investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Schaefer was charged with two counts of possessing a firearm and two counts of possession of methamphetamine.

Kid I knew growing up would hang out at every beer party in the 20-30 age range. A good guy-I still see him now and then. But a schemer.

At some point he got the bright idea that instead of passing the hat to pay for the beer, he'd run the bash himself and take a profit until it got progressively bigger and more expensive. And at some point people stopped going. He had a nice run and made a tidy sum. No one minds paying their way. But when it gets to the point as it did with this guy that he was financing his mortgage payments with beer barbeques at the expense of his friends, it got to be too much. it wasn't like-come over my house and bring a case and some wings-he was advertising to get more people (and not necessarily friends) to come just to churn some cash. He pretty much killed something that started out good( a few friends have a few beers and a party on a summer night) in order to line his pockets.

You get the idea.

Seriously...

A "premium" board is the antithesis of why I post; my ego cannot allow, or accept that my words of wisdom are only going to be seen and admired by the rest of the premium subscribers.

I want the world to see my posts, or at least know that the potential of the world seeing my posts is there.

Or else, why bother?

The idea that the Dalai Lama, or Woody Johnson, is surfing the web and can come across my post, is a huge turn on.

The Dalai Lama isn't gonna pause, and fork over 5 bucks and become enlightened.

He's gonna do a quick word search, access Jet Nation, and get enlightened here.

Same vein-

Jackie Mason on Starbucks:

Starbucks is the best example of a phony status symbol that means nothing, but people will still pay 10 times as much for because there are French words all over the place.

You want coffee in a coffee shop, that's 60 cents. But at Starbucks, Cafe Latte: $3.50. Cafe Cremier: $4.50. Cafe Suisse: $9.50. For each French word, another four dollars.

Why does a little cream in coffee make it worth $3.50? Go into any coffee shop; they'll give you all the cream you want until you're blue in the face. Forty million people are walking around in coffee shops with jars of cream: "Here's all the cream you want!" And it's still 60 cents. You know why?

Because it's called "coffee."

If it's Cafe Latte -- $4.50. You want cinnamon in your coffee? Ask for cinnamon in a coffee shop; they'll give you all the cinnamon you want. Do they ask you for more money because it's cinnamon? It's the same price for cinnamon in your coffee as for coffee without cinnamon -- 60 cents, that's it. But not in Starbucks. Over there, it's Cinnamonnier - $9.50.

You want a refill in a regular coffee shop, they'll give you all the refills you want until you drop dead. You can come in when you're 27 and keep drinking coffee until you're 98. And they'll start begging you: "Here, you want more coffee, you want more, you want more?" Do you know that you can't get a refill at Starbucks? A refill is a dollar fifty. Two refills, $4.50. Three refills, $19.50.

So, for four cups of coffee - $350.

And it's burnt coffee.

It's burnt coffee at Starbucks, let's be honest about it. If you get burnt coffee in a coffee shop, you call a cop. You say, "It's the bottom of the pot. I don't drink from the bottom of the pot. But when it's burnt at Starbucks, they say, "Oh, it's a blend. It's a blend." It's a special bean from Argentina....."

The bean is in your head.

And there're no chairs in those Starbucks. Instead, they have these high stools. Did you ever see these stools? You haven't been on a chair that high since you were two. Seventy-three year old Jews are climbing and climbing to get to the top of the chair. And when they get to the top, they can't even drink the coffee because there's 12 people around one little table, and everybody's saying, "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me".

Then they can't get off the chair.

Old Jews are begging Gentiles, "Mister, could you get me off this?"

Do you remember what a cafeteria was? In poor neighborhoods all over this country, they went to a cafeteria because there were no waiters and no service. And so poor people could save money on a tip. Cafeterias didn't have regular tables or chairs either. They gave coffee to you in a cardboard cup. So because of that you paid less for the coffee. You got less, so you paid less. It's all the same as Starbucks -- no chairs, no service, a cardboard cup for your coffee.

Except in Starbucks, the less you get, the more it costs. By the time they give you nothing, it's worth four times as much. Am I exaggerating?

>Did you ever try to buy a cookie in Starbucks? Buy a cookie in a regular coffee shop. You can tear down a building with that cookie. And the whole cookie is 60 cents. At Starbucks, you're going to have to hire a detective to find that cookie, and it's $9.50. And you can't put butter on it because they want extra. Do you know that if you buy a bagel, you pay extra for cream cheese in Starbucks? Cream cheese, another 60 cents. A knife to put it on, 32 cents. If it reaches the bagel, 48 cents. That bagel costs you $312. And they don't give you the butter or the cream cheese. They don't give it to you. They tell you where it is. "Oh, you want butter? It's over there. Cream cheese? Over here. Sugar? Sugar is here." Now you become your own waiter. You walk around with a tray. "I'll take the cookie. Where's the butter? The butter's here. Where's the cream cheese? The cream cheese is there." You walked around for an hour and a half selecting items, and then the guy at the cash register has a glass in front of him that says "Tips." You're waiting on tables for an hour, and you owe him money. Then there's a sign that says please clean it up when you're finished. They don't give you a waiter or a busboy. Now you've become the janitor. Now you have to start cleaning up the place.

>Old Jews are walking around cleaning up Starbucks. "Oh, he's got dirt too? Wait, I'll clean this up." They clean up the place for an hour and a half.

If I said to you, "I have a great idea for a business. I'll open a whole new type of a coffee shop. A whole new type. Instead of 60 cents for coffee I'll charge $2.50, $3.50, $4.50, and $5.50." "Not only that, I'll have no tables, no chairs, no water, no busboy, and you'll clean it up for 20 minutes after you're finished." Would you say to me, "That's the greatest idea for a business I ever heard! We can open a chain of these all over the world!" No, you would put me right into a sanitarium.

Starbucks can only get away with it because they have French titles for everything, Nazi bastard son-of-a-bitches. And I say this with the highest respect, because I don't like to talk about people.

Hey guys....

I've been away in O.C. fishing all weekend (since Thursday), and I guess I missed the new site launch.

All I know is I cannot get JI now. I used my old link, and the link via Google, but the site never comes up, just sits trying to connect to it.

Oh well.....

Shake the machine and see if the can drops out. If not, press the "Coin Return" button next to the dollar-changer. If all else fails, report the problem to the customer service desk inside the store where they can give you the phone number for the vendor.

Have you ever been at a funeral, and then you think of something funny, and you're trying real hard not to laugh, but the harder you try to get this funny thing out of your mind, the more you want to laugh?

That happened to me once at an AA meeting when somebody was sharing. I tried and tried to keep from laughing, but I had to get up and excuse myself. Thank God I wasn't chairing. This chick was going on and on, and really, her life story was tragic and all, but there was like, this guy who was clearly high on dope, was getting himself a cup of coffee, and I was staring at him, and while he's making the cup of coffee, I'm saying to myself I'll give him 3 steps and he spills that coffee all over the floor and Jeepers H. Crackers, if that isn't exactly what happened.

That's the same feeling I get when I go lurk over at JI.

I just start laughing uncontrollably, even though I know that it aint right, as I'm witnessing a funeral.
