The "Sweet Sixteen" Edition of Post of the Week - March 21, 2007

GreenBeans

Recommended Posts

How-do everybody, welcome to POTW on this fine Thursday morning - I hope it has found you all healthy and happy. This has been a fine week in the GreenBeans household (well, sort of) with the Tarheels of North Carolina looking stron and prety tough and the Dookies going out to VCU in round one this year. Ahhh, what a great weekend to be alive. Of course my bracket is shot to hell (not due to Dook, either), but such is life.

This was a pretty light week, but there is some funny stuff below. Let's get right on into it, there is a SHOCKER at the end - trust me:

The closest thing I got was an open G tuning..

It sounds OK, but def not right...

Should I go for it? Or is it too dangerous?

If Doug Brien had done that maybe we wouldn't be sitting here saying Penny couldn't get it done because Jeff Hostetler got shut out on the NFC title game and he "got it done" according to most of your criteria. The Giants won because of defense a lucky ass fake punt and a lights out fg kicker.

(Editor's note: Ha! Take that, Spermie.)

If the Jets DID win that game, it was not because of the Chad-led offense - it would have been because the special teams & defense scored two touchdowns. But for those two non-offensive Jets TD's, it's not even a game.

He also managed 0 turnovers & gained a full yard more per pass attempt. Bettis also fumbled away 3-7 points on the Jets' 23 yard line when Pittsburgh was moving the ball with ease. And who were Hoss's WR's & who were Chad's again? And who had better RB's? It was classic Chad, doing less with more.

Hoss led the offense to 15 points. Even IF Brien hit one more FG, Chad led the offense to 6 points. I can't believe you would suggest something so silly.

But it's telling that you think Chad should only measure up nearly-favorably, in 1 isolated game, to a QB you see as a backup worse than he is. Forget about the endzone; it would have been nice if Chad got us into the RED zone even ONCE in 5 quarters of play instead of giving Brien 3 attempts at 42, 43, and 47 in Heinz Field.

I noticed you also glossed over Hostetler's 8 TD's to 0 turnovers in the post-season compared to Chad's 7 TD's to 7 turnovers (each started 5 games).

Lastly, the SF/NYG game was the NFC championship game. Two weeks later they won the SB. Chad has never been to a championship game going into his 8th season. And judging by the position the defense & special teams put the Jets in vs Pittsburgh (scoring two TD's and getting a turnover when Pittsburgh was driving deep in Jets territory), Chad had about every advantage a QB could hope to ask for. Lining up a weak-legged kicker in Heinz field for three 42-47 yd FG attempts in 5 quarters of play is not getting the job done.

(The Nomination "I am officially on both sides of the fence. I can't wait for the rebuttal. I am going to NOM that one as well. Screw Beans. He is overpaid." - Max)

(Editor's note: Ha! Take that #27. Oh, and don't let Max fool you - he likes "sitting" on that fence. Finally, I'm with Max - I'm overpaid.)

WOW!! I honestly thought this day would never come. Now that it has, I have to say it feels absolutely nothing like I thought it would. I would like to thank the following people.

Sperm Edwards - I really do give him all of the credit for my newfound love of all things Photoshop.

greengal - I'm very flattered but married.

stormshadow19 - He must have never stopped crying because my head is still intact...both of them...

max - It wasn't the bike shorts and tube top that made you look fat...it was the fat that made you look fat.

greenbeans - For finally realizing that discrimination went out in the 70s. Oh yeah and he does a hell of a job every week.

But if I can be serious for a second, eff all of those people, I really thank nobody but myself. :P

Thanks GreenBeans!!
