Bowens didn't come from a 1-15 team. The team slipped to 1-15 after they lost Bowens to the Jets. And the Dolphins' defense was top-5 in both points and yards. I hardly think that unit was the one responsible for the 2006 team's ineptitude. It is slightly more likely that scoring the 3rd-fewest points in the league caused it.

The other two (assuming they even make the final roster) are 3rd string. Chad Pennington is likely to be your starter.

Now if we picked up Cleo Lemon and gave him over $11M to be the starting QB for two years, then you'd have me.

Now cheer up & stop being so gloomy because your defensive ranking dropped from #5 to #30 after you lost David Bowens. That's ok. I'm sure it will improve without Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas holding the team back.

Bump for crashingjet

Nah. He's a pretty funny guy. And I'm perfectly aware that crashingjet knows Pennington blows & this is the only way for him to enjoy this acquisition at all.

I can only imagine all the broken furniture in his home when he got the news. The less-publicized, yet still devastating collateral damage of Hurricane Pennington.

It's laughable to claim that the loss of a backup d-lineman caused the Dolphins to go 1-15. It took the leagues worst coach and coaching staff to make that happen, not the loss of David Bowens.

You don't know squat, just like your team who only wins 1 game a year.

Ah, yes, it was all the coaching staff's fault. And now, with this incredible staff, you will not even miss Taylor and Thomas. Right?

Even e-curb uses that one now, what a Joke you turned out to be.

Chad my hero...::wub

HaHa. So you're saying you didn't think I was joke before the QB change? I doubt that. Fact is I'm doing my best to support my team. I merely posted an article making an interesting comparison of the 2 QB's and how one was statistically better at a specific throw, That's all. I know, just like everybody else that the Jets are a lock to win the Superbowl now that you have a 39 year old QB who has no grasp of the playbook and zero chemistry with the offense he's leading.

I thought you were a "mild irritant" before, but using an avatar of the very same guy you have been slamming is a lame way to try and support your team.

The article you posted is ridiculous, and the fact that you are trying to defend it, when last week you were ripping Chad makes you laughable.

So get it straight that's how you became a JOKE!!! in my book.

Most QBs are a LOT closer to Favre's INT total than they are to his TD total. 20 people are within 80 INTs of Favre, but only one person is within 100 TDs of Favre.

Dag nabbit, this didn't paste well. Whatever, I don't care. Screw you people.

Hey, I only report the facts here.

2006 Dolphins defense with David Bowens = #5 in the NFL

2007 Dolphins defense without David Bowens = #30 in the NFL

Therefore, David Bowens is clearly the best defensive player in NFL history & still wasn't even good enough to start for the Jets.

Now for Chad Pennington:

# of seasons the Jets were below .500 from 1997 until 2002 (when Chad got the job): zero

# of seasons the Jets were below .500 since they gave the job to to Chad 6 yrs ago: three

Therefore Chad Pennington single-handedly caused the demise of the New York Jets. The Dolphins are starting out already as the worst team in the NFL without Chad Pennington. After 1 season with him at the helm, there is at least a 75% chance that Goodell will simply kick the Dolphins out of the NFL for the embarrassment and shame they bring upon the other 31 teams.

Come on now, we know that will never happen. I mean really, if it hasn't happend to the Jets yet, it would never happen to Miami, home of "Perfectville" :D

2006 We had Saban controlling the defense. As much as we in Miami loathe him, he was quite good at defense. He's as much of a reason for Taylor getting DPOY as Taylor was.

2007 due to the new regime not having a clue about proper conditioning we suffered many injuries including starting safties (we went through 6 last year), CB, middle linebacker, outside linebacker etc... There were a myriad of reasons for our crappy defense in 2007, none of which had anything to do with the release of David Bowens.

The Dolphins didn't cut Bowens. He was a free agent who knew his immense talents were wasted in Miami. So he went on to GREENer pastures. After he left, you see the result, which is that the Jets quadrupled the Dolphins win-total the following season. Coincidence? I think not.

You want to play the numbers game?

How about that Favre holds virtually every NFL passing record. Chad has the highest completion percentage. Understandable since 90% of his throws are dumpoffs.

Favre's Packers have the best winning percentage in the entire NFL since 1992.

Favre has engineered 40 4th QTR comeback victories. How many has Chad had? 4?

Favre has won the NFL MVP 3 times. Chad? Zero.

Favre has won one SB and brought his team to another. Chad? Zero.

And finally, the Packers would have done anything to keep Favre out of their division, even their conference. Were the Jets worried that Chad might go to the Dolphins?

hahahahahahahahahaahahahaha

thats because favre has played for 50 years.....duh.

Now that Chad is with the Dolphins, does that worry anybody ? He can manage a game well at times. He knows our offense like the back of his hand, and our defense. I remember Gruden with the Bucs and what he did to the Raiders. With the Jets schedule the first four weeks they need to win that game.... I worry that they could slip up.

I have issues with the posts here. Favre has been a much better QB than Chad. True. However, to knock Chad is simply unethical. Chad was more of a Jet than Favre. Chad is the quintessential pro, so is Favre. The problem lies in the dolfag fan's idiotic posturing, and most of the responses. I, for one, will cheer Chad on, except when he plays the Jets but especially when he plays the pats.

It is possible to show the same class that Chad did while he was here. WE, as Jet's fans should be better than these stupid arguments and take the moral high road. Chad did, and he is a Dolphin. So if WE don't, what does that say about us?

Browning Nagle, our consolation prize in 1991, was more of a Jet than Brett Favre. Big deal. He still sucked.

Whoa don't shoot the messenger. I didn't write the article, I just figured because it had something to do with the Jets that the people on this board would like to read it.

We were all wondering when you'd show your Dolfag face. You're too funny. :P

Pennington rides the coattails of his 2002 season, just like Testaverde did with whatever year that he had that great season. After that he pretty much had the support of above averages defenses and running game. Cant wait till he floats one to Ginn Jr and get him killed.
