When I reflect back on my time spent on JN, I wonder, is there really anything about JN that has changed my life for the better?

The answer, of course, is no. But it also has not made my life any worse, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Happy Birthday, JN.

;)

(kidding, of course)

Thanks for all you do. It is appreciated. Happy Birthday.

Thanks to Max and the founding fathers and all those who have helped out behind the scenes getting this place to run correctly.

Im proud to call this my internet home. Its exactly what a message board should be. I love lots of sports, but this is the only place where I talk about one of my teams.

Thank you to all the members here. Without you guys this place would be a lame homo circle jerk. There are so many opinions and its great to hear them, even if they differ from my own.

And screw all of you for not voting for me more in the JN Awards. I will get my revenge.

Received this birthday wish for JetNation from TomShane via email:

When I think about all the things I enjoy that are four years old, JetNation is certainly one of them. And like the Olsen Twins, who were also promising at that age, I know that JetNation will age and grow into slightly malformed, if vaguely hot, rich and strung-out-on-coke slutbags. I mean this in the highest esteem possible. JetNation is definitely the same career path as the Olsens. Future Heath Ledger’s beware. I mean it.

As far as I can remember, JN started out when some chubby fascist on another website took offense to my calling Max a homo (repeatedly), thus jeopardizing his big chance to get an uber-valuable “press pass” from the decrepit piece of **** franchise known as the New York Jets. I said to Max, “Hey, we should start our own site.” I drink a lot, and talk a lot of crap. But Max said “Yeah!” and, with the very-hot GangGreenGirl, JetNation was born. We started out with a nice socialist ideology, revolving around the mantra that a website is only as good as its posters, and it was true. Because the people that signed up were smart and funny and interesting, JN took off. That it stands today, and Max is driving a Mercedes SL from the ad proceeds, is a testament to how right we were in prioritizing the people over the product.

Because of my penis, I don’t post here anymore, but I still read it sometimes and I’m always entertained by it. The site looks great, runs great, and puts many other sites to shame. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it’s an overall good time. In short, it’s really become the site that we all envisioned when we first started out, and it’s a credit to everybody involved that it hasn’t strayed far from the path we set out on. Four years later, it’s still growing.

So, congratulations to JetNation and the unpaid staff, as well as to the posters who root for and comment upon this most undeserving of franchises. As I look into the future towards the next four years, I can predict a few things:

1. Rex Ryan will run screaming from this team.

2. Herman Edwards will still be stupid.

3. Max will ban Jetlag and SpermEdwards for ruining his shot at a press pass.

Good luck! ,

TomShane
