Whoa, whoa... lets just settle down there for a moment. I don't like what you're implying here.

Many of us were saying all of these things long before the Jets finally booted Chad's ass to the curb and he went off to the Dolphins.

Chad is not a P U S S Y

Fragile yes..never questioned his courage

I will always have a soft spot for Favre for helping the Jets rid themselves of the Pennington curse of mediocrity. I'm just so happy he isn't or wasn't a Jet when this happened.

I don't even hate the guy, I just hate all the man crushes people had on him and could not see him for what he really was (which was average at best and poor under pressure).

I never said it was silly, you misread. My point is that, while no quantitative measure of "will" exists, there are certain qualitative and situational pieces of evidence that, over time, determines if a player is in fact a P.U.S.S.Y.

Chad is one. I'm not sure how you can argue against that anymore.

I don't think he's a "*****". I mean really, the guy came back to play QB in the NFL after two shoulder surgeries. He's tough, just very fragile. A lot of QB's would have retired, he had enough money. He worked hard to come back and he did, I wouldn't consider many NFL QB's pussies never mind one who was as determined as Pennington.

I've seen all the Jets' QB's. Namath was obviously the best, Vinny and Chad are tied for second. Jury is still out on Sanchez, of course, who is starting out terrific.

Who else have the Jets had? Richard "The Terrible" Todd was good for about a year and a half, otherwise he was horrible. Ken O'Brien was okay, but he never got rid of the ball in time. Boomer Esiason was one othe best QB's of his era, but not as a Jet. Playing for Kotite obviously didn't help.

What I liked about Chad is that he seemed to know what he was doing down there, which is a lot more than you can say for most of the meatballs the Jets have put under center over the years. Chad had a decent career, good for him.

Sad News Out of Miami

Chad Pennington has another serious injury to his twice operated on shoulder and will miss the rest of the season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has been initially diagnosed with a torn capsule in his throwing shoulder and the Dolphins expect him to miss the rest of the season, sources familiar with the injury he suffered Sunday told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen.

Pennington will seek a second opinion from orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews, who has performed two shoulder surgeries on the quarterback.

Pennington underwent tests Monday on his right shoulder, which he hurt early in the third quarter of Sunday's 23-13 loss at San Diego. He missed the rest of the game, and coach Tony Sparano said he didn't know how long Pennington will be sidelined.

That's just really awful news. We all know how some Dolphins fans behave. Seeing them in pain after their predictable 0-3 start is a lot of fun. This news is not fun.

Pennington's a great teammate, a great leader, one of the toughest men to ever suit up, and an all around great guy who has faced an abnormal amount of adversity in his career. This just makes me sick. That shoulder has already been devastated by two rotator cuff tears. He can put absolutely zero zip on the ball as it is because of that. If that arm is any more damaged, you wonder what that does to the already limited repertoire of throws he has the ability to make. Then again, maybe his arm has been so beaten up that it's impossible for this to do more enduring damage.

All I know is it's going to be tough to find a team to take a chance on him this offseason for any meaningful role after a third devastating injury. It could be the end of the line for a player it's impossible to have anything but a ton of respect and admiration for.

agreed-like him or not now-Chad is one tough SOB...can you imagine how much that **** hurts? I had an operation on my thumb and I was miserable and wondered if I'd ever be able to play the same again

I only wish that Edwards coached with the mentality he preached in the papers.

Do you believe that is the same coach that said those things that you saw in the Pitt playoff game?

of course not. Herm and Chad are brothers, both snake oil salesman who say things that are completely different then what they do.. (Chad on his contract in 2004 "i instructed my agent to make the deal team friendly, cause i'm such a super great team first guy", meanwhile it was the second biggest guarenteed money in league history at the time)

And regardless, the fact that Herm noticed it should tell you something..

That fans think they can read a players face is cute.

Bill Romanowski? Is he really the player you want to derive worthwhile quotes from?

I said "will" or "ability"

You said "both"

Lol.. These aren't video games robots dude. There's been plenty of research into common facial expressions that indicate fear and human beings being able to recognize them, unless you are autistic or something???

Pennington opts for shoulder surgery

Posted by Mike Florio on September 29, 2009 7:30 PM ET

With a torn capsule in his shoulder and a season of high hopes shredded, Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has elected to undergo surgery, according to Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald.

Dr. James Andrews will get reacquainted with the inside of Pennington's right shoulder on Friday. Andrews has twice before operated on Pennington's shoulder, in 2004 and 2005.

Even if Pennington chooses to play football again, it likely won't happen in Miami. He's signed through 2009, and he'll be an unrestricted free agent in March.

Pennington will receive the balance of his $3.9 million salary.
