Eli Manning just won his second Super Bowl MVP and is set to host "Saturday Night Live," but the New York Giants quarterback says he's behind Jets signal-callers Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow when it comes to popularity in New York City.

on his popularity in New York City

In a panel discussion over this past weekend with Fox News host Shepard Smith at an Ole Miss event honoring the former Rebels quarterback, a playful Manning cracked about his new standing among New York quarterbacks after Tebow arrived in a trade in late March.

"New York Giants just won a championship yet I'm still the third most-talked-about quarterback in my own city," he deadpanned as the crowd erupted in laughter in a video posted on FoxNews.com.

Manning often says he doesn't pay attention to what is written or being said about him or the Giants in the media, but the intense public scrutiny regarding Tebow's arrival and Sanchez's reaction to the move has been nearly impossible to avoid.

Still, the normally private Manning may finally be able to crack the news cycle when he hosts NBC's "SNL" on May 5.

"I am looking forward to it," Manning said last week about following in his brother Peyton's footsteps as a host of the show. "'Saturday Night Live' will be fun and it will be a new experience for me.

"Right now, I am probably more anxious than anything just to kind of figure out what I might be doing. I might be doing something that is a little bit out of my character or uncomfortable. But I'm looking forward to just working hard that week and having a lot of laughs and being prepared."

Manning certainly had people laughing during the event at Ole Miss, which recently honored Manning with a 10 mph speed limit in honor of his former college jersey number. His father, Archie, had received the same honor prior to that.

Sorry bro - thought you were referring to his home town - in which case Archie gets more talk than he does.

Ahhh, gotcha. Yeah, you'd definitely have a point there. I was just referring to the fact that Tebow recently moved about a block away from Eli. It's big news in these parts.

He's the 5th-most talked about QB in his city. They talked about more about Sanchez, Tebow, Drew Stanton (displaced as 2nd QB by Tebow, traded to Colts), and David Carr (in order to joke that Carr, the Giants' backup QB, would be holding a press conference too). Meanwhile I don't remember Eli in the news at all till he finally decided do something about it and host SNL. :)
