Rex Takes a Shot at McElroy

Sorry for not copy and pasting the rest but their website wouldn't allow me to.

Explains why they are pretty much trying to force Simms to be the 3rd guy even though McElroy is clearly better. The fact McElroy opened his mouth to the press a couple seasons ago still doesn't sit well with Rex.

It's basically one quote from Rex that could be either praising McElroy or a sarcastic response, but it's clearly extrapolated to make it seem like Rex still dislikes him.  Maybe he does, but it's a pretty bullsh*t article given the lone quote of "If you leave a guy open, he makes the throw."  Sarcasm? Maybe, but seeing as how he couldn't say that about our starting QB for the last three seasons, I'm thinking it was more of a compliment.

Jets had plenty of opportunity to unload McElroy after he originally opened his mouth. Last year, Rex bypassed Tebow and started McElroy. I think this is just a little confirmation that Leberfeld is a jerk. Guy used to get some scoops in that paper of his before the Internet, but those days are over.

I like Leberfeld but there is a reason he has the reputation that he has.

If Garrard was serviceable, or Idzik signed a healthy veteran QB, this wouldn't even be an issue. As a result, the Jets are almost certainly going to need two new QBs next year.

Jets would be wise to watch the waiver wire at the position.

Just watch what happnens during these preseason games - McElroy is going to get a ton of minutes, and he's going to outplay both qb's. It's happened the last two preseasons. But he'll never start since he doesn't throw a fastball in the high 90's...

What part of genius Tony Sparano's playbook was going to work with Tebow at QB? Not that it worked with McElroy either, but seeing what McE had was the only viable option.

He'll never start again, barring injuries, because he's not an NFL quarterback.  You may not want to admit it, but physical attributes do matter; how anyone can have lived through the Chadwick era and not understand the importance of arm strength and the ability to make all the throws is just fooling themselves.  Accumulating better stats against practice squad players is not the type of play that warrants starting over guys who get it done versus the starters.  If GMC was the best QB available, he'd be in there, there's no conspiracy against him.

Leberfield actually believes the Jets could get a draft pick for McElroy?  :confused0058:

and this.

Laughable the spin being put on this... sign of how locked-down the Jets have become. Everything in the news that's Jets related is made-up and designed to elicit the familiar panic and outrage we Jets fans are known for.

Pennington era wasn't so bad - went to the playoffs a lot. He gave us a pretty good chance to win each week.

Ideally you want a guy who knows where to throw it and can get it in there quick.  With nobody like that on the roster you go to the guy who knows where and when to throw it and can get it there only moderately quick over the guy who can  gun it but doesn't see open receivers much.

Especially for backups you would do this.
