Jeremy Kerley injury

Jeremy Kerley left Sunday's Week 9 game against the Saints in the second quarter with an elbow injury and will not return.

Kerley got flipped around and landed awkwardly on his left arm. He was in a ton of pain as he was helped to the bench and then to the locker room. Considering how quickly he was ruled out for the day, it might be some kind of fracture or dislocation. Kerley had one catch for one yard before leaving.

Im hearing dislocated elbow anyone have any other updates?

I've actually seen a lot of these pre- and post-op. Soo here's what you can try to feel out from the reports so far: obviously it was hyper-extended, so we're looking at either a partial or complete dislocation, which can range from a relatively innocuous couple weeks of immobilization and rehab or open-reduction.  Usually, in ortho, we'll use subluxation to mean only a partial dislocation, but these reporters only parrot information, so we have no idea what to know. If it's a partial dislocation, he can immobilize and rehab it for the next few weeks and wear a compression sleeve when he returns. Or, it could be a full dislocation, in which case you have to then worry about ligament damage (LCL, MCL) and also nerve damage if there's a fracture involved. Ulnar nerve runs right near the radial head and your median and radial nerve close by, so these types of injuries can really do long term damage, so basically we relaly just have to hope for the best for kerley as a person and then as a football player.

 Braylon Edwards is available.

Lol, I admire your consistency. As I said a few weeks ago, I was serious about being excited about Salas. Stealing a guy from a practice squad when he's hurt, is a solid indication Marty thought highly of him. I think you're going to see him and Sudfeld become a much bigger part in this offense.

ESPN New York's Rich Cimini reports the Jets fear Jeremy Kerley's left elbow injury is "serious."

The NY Daily News' Manish Mehta reports Kerley may have an elbow subluxation, or a dislocation. Kerley isn't an All-Pro player, but he is a big part of the Jets' offense as a chain-mover in the slot. He has 29 receptions and two touchdowns through eight games, and it isn't as if New York is loaded at wideout, although Santonio Holmes (hamstring) is due back after the Week 10 bye. David Nelson could wind up as the Jets' slot receiver the rest of the way if Kerley's injury is season ending. Holmes and Stephen Hill would work outside.

If he is only out 4 weeks i don't see them making any moves. Already have Holmes, Hill, Nelson, Salas and Cribbs. Maybe they bring back Michael Campbell.

Not sure you can really count on Cribbs much as a contributor at WR.  He seems to be here more as a return specialist and for wildcat plays than anything else.  Even despite all of the injuries piling up, he hardly lined up at WR at all yesterday and didn't do much even when he did.

Suds is a TE

That he is, but he actually operated a lot like Jimmy Graham and line up out wide quite frequently. I would imagine instead of signing someone off the street, they will continue to use the guys they have on the roster in more creative ways. Both Cumberland and Winslow will be back and now with Salas and Sudfeld seeing extended playing time, I think the biggest move you'll see made is promoting someone from the practice squad.

If this were an OT, or OG, it would be 2-3 weeks.  For a WR he can probably call it a season.

Some of the young guys are stepping up a bit, and Marty doesn't seem to trust Smith enough to let him throw it except when he has to, so the Jets should get by.

With Holmes being questionable I think they look to sign somebody Nelson and Salas prove you can sign guys that are out there that can contribute who on the PS is worthy of a WR spot?

I don't particularly know, I don't really pay too too much attention to the practice squad until someone gets promoted or sent down. Salas, Nelson and Sudfeld are good finds, but with Holmes coming back after the bye, I'm not sure anyone promoted or signed will garner any snaps.  You'll have Holmes, Hill, Nelson, Salas at receiver and Cumberland, Winslow and Sudfeld at TE. Seemingly any other receiver they sign or promote will have a tough time finding playing time.
