JetNation
Geno Smith is coming off a bounce back game, his line against the Raiders was: 16/25, 219 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 5 rushes for 50 yards, 1 TD. He wasn’t perfect but he played well enough for the Jets to win. He is going to have to play even better if the Jets have a chance against the Carolina Panthers. The Jets are currently 11 point underdogs, according the CBS Sports. Geno was asked about facing the Panthers and here is what he had to say: On how much film he’s watched of Carolina…I’ve watched some tape on them. Just a little bit. On whether he watched any of the Carolina-New Orleans game last night…I didn’t watch the game last night, but I came in and watched it this morning. On how many Carolina games he’s seen…A few. On Carolina’s defense…(They’re) good up front. Typical NFL defense, (they) play hard (and have) good guys all around. I think they lead the league in pretty much every defensive category, so it’s going to be another tough game for us. We just have got to continue to prepare and go out there and fight hard. On what makes Carolina’s defense a challenge…From my perspective, I just think they play hard and they have a really good defense. On the importance of having Winslow, Jeremy Kerley and Santonio Holmes back together and healthy…It’s important to have those guys out here, but honestly, we have to roll with the guys that we have. No matter who’s out there, we expect them to give full effort and we expect them and when I say them, I mean us all, we expect to compete and go out there and execute. It’s just good to have Kellen and that leadership that he brings, as well as Santonio and Jeremy. On how much responsibility is on him to make the call and check the play at the line of scrimmage…Well, it’s all built into the system. It’s not like I’m free lancing or doing my own thing. All of those things are built in and things that we talk about throughout the week and we game plan. So, if you get a certain look, you want to check to a certain pass or a run and that’s something that we did well with. On whether the team can look at New Orleans success last night and use it to help exploit Carolina’s defense…Yeah, we will. We’ll try and find ways to move the chains. Like I said, they’re a tough defense, but we expect ourselves to go out there and execute. We’re going to study all the tape and find ways for us to execute and find things that we’re good at that can be effective against their defense. On whether he wears different cleats or gloves when playing in cold and snowy weather…I try not to let that affect me. I don’t wear a glove. Maybe if there’s an issue where I feel the need to, I will. But, typically I’m good in cold weather games. Deep. Ehh, no reason for him to divulge what they do that bothers him. Not that it would really matter as it's pretty clear what rattles him, but I don't think him withholding is such a poor move. BroadwayJoe12
the Jets will cover 11 points. they probably don't win but they'll cover. Agreed. Although this is seemingly the toughest game of the season, if we play a clean game (1 non pick-six turnover or less) I think it's actually somewhat winnable. Carolina plays the exact same style as us, seattle, washington etc. Play good defense, run the ball a lot and pass it infrequently, as displayed by their top 5 ranking in rushing attempts and bottom 5 ranking in passing attempts. Probably the best defense we've faced all year, so it's going to be extremely difficult to get anything going, especially on the ground as they're now the number one rush defense, at least in terms of total yards, us and KC still rank ahead of them on ypc. Geno's going to need to pick up some first downs and yards with his legs if we can't put him in manageable 3rd downs; can't risk turnovers on those 3rd and longs. If we can keep it within 10 points, I see it coming down to the final minutes in the fourth...if we're down 2+ scores going into the half, it'll be a blowout, we're not a team that can play from behind. Not many people want to talk about the possibility of playoffs (Win out, Bmore loses 2 and Diego loses 1), but the mere fact that we're in the discussion in December is fun in and of itself and one of the only things I wanted out of this year. Jetsfan80
the Jets will cover 11 points. they probably don't win but they'll cover. I don't think we have a prayer of a chance to cover in this one. That defense will confuse Geno all day (it's the best D he's faced this season), and if "Good Cam" shows up like he has been most of the season, we'll have no answer for their passing attack. Not to mention they're coming off a bad loss @ New Orleans. They're not overlooking us and they're coming out pissed.

Joe Jets fan
I am in a last man standing that started with 142 people for $7100 and its down to three of us. #1 rule for me was no picking Jets or against Jets. I am breaking that rule this week. No shot they win this game.
SayNoToDMC
I've done this before. The fantasy gods must hate me I guess. The gods would have to stick it to me hard to lose this week. I got Forte, McCoy, Alshon Jeffery, Josh Gordon and Jimmy Graham all going against crappy D's. Plus the Panthers in what should be a bloodbath against the Jets
Beaver
Bad matchup for the jets. Jets can't beat a good defense and can't stop a mobile quarterback.
faba
Yeah this game does not look like one where we can compete- rookie QB going against a tough defense and on the road where we and him have been terrible.

I expect we will lose but want to see some growth from Geno.

sourceworx
Geno better wear his running shoes. He's going to be chasing defenders who pick him off all day.
