acupuncturejeff
My assumption is the Jets will pick up a veteran to challenge Geno. On paper, Michael Vick is a good option as he is a little like Geno, played under Morningwhig, and probably knows the offense. Although, I would have an extremely hard time knowing the Jets have someone who once strangled a dog with his own bare hands, and it would definitely be an off the field distraction. I truely am worried they wil get this guy after the Eagles cut him. Please, Woody, do not do it

He brought in a guy who had a loaded unregistered weapon in a NY BAR, and proceeded to shoot himself, but you dont want them to bring in a guy, who granted, did an awful thing, because his off-field distractions would be too much, yet he would be a vast improvement over what we have, and is familiar with the OC's system. Weird.

I'm pretty sure they don't hand you a $100M contract after you've "paid your dues" and the universe just declares "we're even". He's even allowed to own dogs these days. He went to jail for two years and lost ~$100 mil. That's paying a price. We got guys in the league that have killed people in a drunken stupor going a thousand miles an hour in a Bentley and didnt get a fraction of the attention that I seen Vick get, AND these guys didnt even serve time for killing a human being yet Vick did for a dog. The Jets (though I hope not) can sign Vick and the only reason why this would be a distraction is by people making it one and not wanting to let go of something that doesnt matter. Killing animals is bad. Torturing them and hanging out with the kind of scum that dogfight is another story entirely. Those people are one very miniscule step from killing humans. But did Vick actually do that? Kill a dog with his own hands? I didn't follow that case that closely but I thought it was his house, he knew it was all going on etc but I didn't think he actually killed any dogs himself. It is terrible either way, I am just curious.

TnT
Ok...its not ok what he did...nor do I condone killing or torturing animals of any kind. With that said...the culture in which Vick was raised (and millions of other Americans) dog fighting is ingrained in their lifestyle...period, point blank. Doesnt make it right, but if you were raised a certain way...he became desensitized to the inhumanity of his actions. Like a drug dealer who grew up in a familyof drug users and dealers...again...DOESNT MAKE IT RIGHT...but to me, there is a grey area. With that said... If MM, who knows him well, thinks that it would be a + for this offense...then Im ok with it. I trust his judgement and I want to f'n win. Why cant Vick come in and either A compete, or B win the job for now? If/When he gets injured...theres Geno. I read here constantly how Geno needs to learn...wouldnt it be benefitial to go thru a legitimate competition through ota's, training camp, preseason and either winning it or losing it and learning from a QB who, is the prime example of flourishing in MM's system? I gotta think MM would have a big say if everyone whos involved is on board with this...and if he greenlights it...so be it.
