Joique Bell caught fifty three passes last year and averaged over ten per catch. If Goodson is out, I'd take a look at him.

Joique also has a nose for the end zone.

Whether it is Goodson, a FA or draft pick, getting a go-to back who can consistently catch the ball and get YAC is as much of a need as upgrading at WR.   This was a huge missing piece last season.

If UFAs 'maybe', but I like our RB corps and wouldnt give up crap for a RFA....

We need an Rb that can catch out of the backfield. Don't think Goodsen's coming back and Ivory doesn't excel in that dept. Powell is just "Meh" catching the ball.

West Coast "O" requires the back being able to catch out of the backfield.

I don't think they'll let him go. We'd have to give a pretty contract for them not to match.

Detroits top 51 players plus dead money = $135 mil. They're already several million over estimated cap

Oh cool. I'd def think they should take a chance in him.

Joique Bell is no joke.  He stepped in when Reggie Bush got injured and the offense didn't skip a beat.  He runs hard, catches with the best of them, and is a true player.

Money or not, He's the type of player they would tender at the 2nd round level, at the least.  Matching offers would be required to pony up that selection, and I believe we could do just as good (for less money) in the third round.  I'm beating the Bishop Sankey drum, as he reminds me of a LeSean McCoy.  Slippery like him, but runs harder.  Don't know about his hands.

Me either

Plus there's a bunch of mid round type RB's in this draft

What mid rd. RB's have made an impact this year? Stacy is the only one I can think of. The one's who made an impact(Lacy#61, L.Bell#48 and Bernard#37, M.Ball#58)were all in the top 2 rds.

You wouldn't give up a 3rd/4th for an established, high octane difference maker out of the backfield? I'd do that deal

Detroit RB's have success in the passing game because they have Calvin Johnson to take the top off the defense and an adequate thrower in Stafford.  Bell would be useless here.

You do know that they would have to give him a hefty raise if they don't get any takers. Him and Bush in backfield would be $10 mil. tied up together. For a team with salary cap problems, that's a tough pill to swallow.

Didn't you hear, we're signing Jimmy Graham, Eric Decker, then drafting Marquise Lee in the first and Jodan Matthews in the second.  We're fielding a four-man OL to accommodate all of our new weaponz.

Joique Bell will be the only thing south of the first down marker.

This is what I got.

Restricted free agent Joique Bell is expected to get a second-round tender from the Lions.

We're fully confident Bell could be a very good NFL feature back somewhere, but the Lions aren't going to let him walk easily. If they do slap him with this tender, suitors would have to both pay Bell and give up a second-round pick. It's highly, highly unlikely to happen. Bell will have to wait until 2015 offseason to test his value on the open market. Jan 20 - 12:23

Restricted free agent Joique Bell believes there's "mutual interest" between him and the Lions regarding a long-term contract.

Bell would prefer a multi-year commitment as opposed to a one-year restricted tender, for obvious reasons. He's still likely to be slapped with the RFA tag before perhaps striking a long-term deal with Lions management. Bell turns 28 before next season, so Detroit isn't going to break the bank. He does seem to have been identified as a core offensive player by new coach Jim Caldwell.

I'm not being snarky, I made my comment before stumbling onto this on rotoworld (looking for his contract deets).  Like I said, this is a good year to find a talented back in the third round.  Ka'Deem Carey, Tre Mason, BISHOP SANKEY, even Carlos Hyde can catch the ball well--he just doesn't break away from defenders he bowls them over.

Agreed, a 2nd rd. tender would be too high for the Jets... I like Sankey, Carey and Mason... Hopefully, one of them will be available in the 3rd/4th

exactly,, see what Goodsen status is then if he is deep 6'ed look at draft or Vet cuts before camp..

I wanted Gio Bernard for this purpose last year but via draft..

if there is a Gio type out there then grab him early, but I think Jets can boost Offense the most by grabbing TE Eric Ebron in 1st round..

How about a 3rd for Doug Baldwin if we can't sign any of the top FA's (Decker, Maclin, Cooper, Tate, Jones)Seattle has a 2014 Salary of 126 mil and Michael Bennett, Breno Giacomini, Golden Tate, Steven Hauschka, Brandon Browner,

Clinton McDonald and Walter Thurmond hitting FA this yr and Chris Clemons, Cliff Avril, Earl Thomas, Michael Robinson

and Richard Sherman FA in 2015. They've got problems.

With Harvin on a big contract, they may have to let Baldwin walk.

So, if I'm following your posts the past week.... trade away all our mid-round picks, to move up and take a stud possession burner WR that will be a guaranteed quality player, and then pay the ridiculously counter productive costs of a RFA to add midling players that are absolutely no better than guys we could select with those mid-round picks we wasted.

Sound logic. :P

Ummm! where was I talking about trading away all our mid-round picks to move up and take a WR?

If you're referring to the Draft Simulator Thread, here's a news flash.... It's just a game! Trying to see if trading up got you a higher score.

I am honored that you follow my posts so closely. I'm sorry I don't give you that much attention.

I mixed you up with ozzieny, again. Easy mistake to make. Obviously, made easier by how much I apparently follow your posts so much.

Try not to jump into immediate butthurt just because someone questions what you say. Your logic on RFA chasing is doo doo... regardless of the mixup.

When a team needs as much as we do, you don't pay the price of RFA for guys that aren't even difference makers (everyone on your list).

Not advocating sending a second round pick for the guy at all, but he'd be extremely useful here. A RB who's a threat to catch the ball out of the backfield slows down the pass rush, consumes a defender, or makes a big play.

I'm not convinced they're done with Goodson just yet, but if they are, they should be looking for this type of back in the draft. Bell went undrafted (like the great Danny Woodhead), evidence that these guys are available if you look.

Trading picks for players is a big part of the reason the Jets roster became a stinking pile of crap over the last couple years. Championship teams are built on a core of talent who are outperforming their contracts. You get those players in the draft. If those extra picks are burning a hole in Idzik's pocket, I'd prefer he make a modest move up in the draft to select his WR of choice, rather than send a pick to another team for the right to pay a player a larger contract.

The whole RFA process is a bit of a game. Many teams dangle players to let other teams do the work of negotiating a deal, and then they simply match if they think it's fair. I wouldn't bother playing for anything higher than the risk of a fourth round pick.

Whatever - all I did was mix you up with another poster, you don't have to get so salty, so quickly. get over it.

I corrected my response to be about only what you said? Apparently putting on an exhibition of "eboozerness" is more important than backing up the ding-dong logic of paying the cost of RFA's in order to add moderate-impact role players to the roster.

In other words, you don't give up what you have to give up for a RFA - to add Doug Baldwin or Bobby Rainey, guys that have spent their careers as depth chart filler - you can get the same production, with higher ceiling, with draft picks.
