I think he looks up to Belicheat.

So did Mangini but that didn't stop him.

I'm not saying he's coming to the Jets - in fact I can't imagine the Eagles letting him go, no way that happens.  But if he does and the Jets are the only ones that give him full control - and put the most money on the table - he comes here.

Didn't Belicheat stop talking to Mangini because of that?  What a dick.

So a team gets a bunch of defensive TD's and that isn't a sign that the defense is pretty good?  The Eagles forced a turnover in every single game last year, with 7 games where they forced multiple turnovers.  Meanwhile the vaunted Jets D was last in the NFL in turnovers forced.

Team known for offense forces lots of turnovers and has strong special teams, yet in Bit's world Chip Kelly isn't a good Head Coach?  Yeah, Chip definitely needs to be our guy if he comes available.

First off I didn't say if he was a good or bad head coach. What I said was he's the inverse of Rex. I think Rex is a good coach so by my standards they are both above average. But if you hate Rex for not being an offensive coach then you'll hate Chip for not being a defensive coach.  Neither are "complete" by the standards of this forum.

BTW i looked up the actual stats the Eagles were 28th in total defense. None of this DOVA Bull.  10th overall is ludicrous. They had terrible no-cover corners and a sieve run defense. The Chip Kelly philosophy is to win games 42-35. Just score more, who cares about D.

As for getting turnovers and DTDs It's great but not a sustainable strategy over the long term. Having fumbles and ints bounce your way is as much luck as it is coaching. IT's an oblong spheroid sometimes it bounces in unpredictable ways.

Which according to you would be an awesome thing, because coaches are just cheerleaders and if they're good at only one thing that's totes amazing.

P.S. Pay up.

It would be an awesome thing if the Jets got Chip Kelly. I don't have a problem with that. In fact i was reasonably happy with the current head coach.

Back at Oregon people have heard how upset Chip Kelly is and how he wants out of Philly w/3yrs left on his deal, can he rattle enuff chains?

Not for nothing, but the Philly job seems relatively easy. The owner is good, Roseman has put talent all over the team, Andy Reid got over a decade there. What more does Chip want?

Rex's defenses were in the bottom half of the NFL the last 3 years in points all allowed.

Please get over the mirage that Rex is some sort of defensive guru.

It'd be fun to watch Rex try to run a defense when they're on the field 35-40 minutes per game. I imagine it'd look a lot like Rob Ryan's Saints defense.

Story I got from my Philly fan who follows this, is that Kelly wasn't leaving Oregon unless he got to control everything. Lurie gave him that. Kelly and Gamble just put out 2 disastrous drafts in a row, after Roseman had a great draft in 2012.

Lurie decided to go back to Roseman, Gamble out, supposedly he needed to be escorted from the building. Chip not happy, and this isn't over.

Damn. Good info. Thanks.

Chip does well at a lot of the things Rex does poorly, such as clock management.  I also happen to think Chip's defense is better than Rex's offenses have been.

Chip Kelly would win games which would make me happy.  How a coach does it is irrelevant.

I meant to give this story a positive rep, not negative.

This sounds like Gamble.  Woody was afraid to hire the guy.  He's a badass.

Yep.  We're told Idzik "ruined" Rex yet Chip has won with zero help from the draft outside of Jordan Matthews.

Darren Sproles, Lesean McCoy, Riley Cooper, Jeremy Mclin, Zack Ertz, if that is not loaded on the offensive side then I don't know what it is?

They were loaded before their GM went and got him Darren Sproles.

Two years in, zero playoff win and they even have Dirty Sanchez at QB who made it twice to the afcc, under Rex.  :animal0029:

the funny thing ... Kelly has yet to win a playoff game and ya'll are acting like he's some kind of God...

I'd prefer him to Rex, I like offense, but Shane has achieved his goal of dumbing down the board

You know what TS, the fish rots from the head down.

Only reason Rex and Rob are still in the NFL, is because of Buddy.

Between the 3 of them, they'd be lucky to have an IQ of 100.

Funny that Woody ignored Ozzie and still hired Rex as HC.

Same 'Ole Jets.

Makes you wonder why Brady had such a tough time scoring??

Not really, it makes you wonder why Tx doesn't realize any D gives up points when you have the worst QB in football turning the ball over and going 3 and out every other drive

It's not my fault that Woody didn't make Rex the GM.
