Jet Nut
One of the legendary sports writers in his day. Another nail in the coffin of print media
batman10023
as has Jeff Bezos Well only one and Buffett was a big investor in that company I think also. I think buffet bought the newspapers cheap to milk them for money.
Dcat
Bezos bought the Washington Post. The old Washington Post saw the writing on the wall and bailed out of the Washington Post, Newsweek, and any other print media it had. It changed its name to Graham Holdings and retained most of its other businesses, including Kaplan, Inc., far more profitable than obsolete newspapers and magazines. Gen X Jet
The weasel will probably resurface at MSNBC
peekskill68
All these "columnist" guys like Lupica, Myers, Bondy, Bill Madden, etc who offer their opinions are largely living off their reputations. Cheaper guys like Mehta, Vacchiano, Martino, Feinsand, etc. who actually cover teams and do real work getting scoops and interviews are those likely who will remain... drdetroit
I sure wouldn't mind if Gary Myers is swept away also yes please make him go away
JETSfaninNE
I'm guessing Mehta somehow squirmed his way out of this wave of layoffs?
shawn306
At one time Lupica was must read.... Now though he has become a Boston loving, Tennis worshipping douche. Go work for the Boston Globe jackoff
jack48
Do not read sports writers who cannot keep politics out of their colums. When I want a haircut I go to a barber, not a sportswriter

peekskill68
Mehta has never gotten a scoop. You can kill me for saying it but his coverage this year hasn't been bad at all...
KSJets
Hopefully Manish and Gary Myers join him out the door
Bruce Harper
You can kill me for saying it but his coverage this year hasn't been bad at all... He has been much more even-handed. I just mean that he isn't the guy who breaks stories, a la Schefter.
Dunnie
Lupica is a legend. Sad to see him go. I agree ... but his trajectory is basically the same as Al Pacinos. Started strong with extreme talent, dominated his medium, became too self important, failed to see the imperfections in his game , became of parody and shell of his former self. Oscar Isaac is the next Pacino- fire away.
Flushing Roots
No need to worry about Lupica. He will be fine. Old news by now. Time to move on.
drdetroit
I liked Lupica on Sports Reporters and back in the day him and Dick Schaap had great chemistry but his show on ESPN radio sucked way too schticky.
