i could never understand the appeal of the mike and mike shown on espn.  it was stupid.  greenburg is/was a complete moron even if he does claim to be a jets fan.  golic? ex-player.  not much more to be said.  they had those inane commercials where greenburg would talk in a really stupid voice in an echo chamber.  just overall dumb dumb dumb.  good riddance.

Don Imus and Boomer and Carton are a big reason they were succesful.  WFAN's morning show was first a lazy political satire show and once Imus got canned for calling black women hardcore whores he was replaced by a low rent, jersey shore version of the Howard Stern show.

Never listened to WEEI.  I only listen to Joe and Evan and Francesa on WFAN.  The rest of WFAN is just horrible.

They sucked, but I thought Greenberg was good in those rare moments when he wasn't asked to shill Disney projects or follow some contrived script where he'd feign outrage over a call in a Jazz-Spurs game. ESPN is truly in a downward spiral and I couldn't be happier to see a bad product fail, but it's a drag watching some good people lose their jobs because management decided to fill airtime with chicks dressed like prom queens interviewing rapper-actors about their favorite Lakers memories, or debate-format shows where two inane clowns yell at each other over Bryce Harper's millenialism.

There is Francesa and there is nothing else.  When he ends at the FAN, millions of listeners will follow him to wherever he streams and it will send a shiver through the spines of terrestrial and satellite radio.  I can't wait.  They have destroyed that medium with their commercialism and agenda.

The Mock outrage was running at full tilt through most of the years. The biggest problem being the show was way too long and lack of material had those two idiots constantly repeating themselves .

Some schtick just gets old, ya know. It plays itself out.

Like when it's contrived, not based in reality, or when it challenges a fact-free belief you have regarding a quarterback from your alma mater.

No, not one that I am aware of.  Other than his horse racing crap which turns me off I find him very impartial and fair in his assessments.

Any show that competes with Stern in the  morning is on ignore

God, I haven't listened to Howard Stern since I became a father.  That type of juvenile guttural humor is as relevant today as tailgating.

I stop when he went to Sirius. The rest of it is so repetitive.  On every  station you have heard everything they have by the third day in a row you listen to it . Like some creepy Groundhog Day platform.  I live outside D.C. And listen to the junkies in the morning. It's awesome to hear the Washington sports fans elation then deflation all  year round. The highs and lows of those fan bases are damn good radio.

The Stern show is totally different now.  Howard became Hollywood and pc he's obsessed with kissing the @sses of A-list celebrities

Mike and Mike were the biggest beneficiaries on terrestrial when Howard left

I don't know anyone could listen to that show.  The show was live but their personalities were so bland and contrived the entire show sounded pre-taped

I liked M&M listened to it often over the years. Was mostly solid and entertaining national/generic sports talk.

I take the opinions of fans of NY Sports radio with a grain of salt, because NY Sports media is universally sh*t, the hands down worst. Francesa is just the steaming top of the NY sports media pool of wet diarrhea. People who like it are not opinions worth much imo.

As for Stern, lol that tripe stopped being entertaining after I stopped being a teenage twit. Juvenile pap for empty headed morons.

The FAN is already fading. They have no one to replace him with either.

It's already imploding. Everything is shifting towards Podcasts while WFAN still trots out Minko every 20 minutes to do the flash updates.

Not sure how long since you have been listening. However it's changed a lot over the years. My kids still don't listen.

WFAN still has the ability to generate tons of surplus ad revenue they just need to eliminate overhead that's why they are getting rid of Francesa.  I heard a couple years ago WFAN generated $40 million in ad revenue (while ESPN radio got $7 mil)

But to replace him with another expensive fat blowhard defeats the purpose

Howard's show has gotten really bad.  He got involved with a cult and hired a millenial con artist chick to manage his station on Sirius for him

Yes the dumb ass Marci Turk. I have listened a lot less since she came into power. I call it the "getting things done coup". Even Gary answers to her. It has definitely has gone down hill.

The one person in house I would hope gets the shot is Evan Roberts, solo.  I could see them trying to lure Bill Simmons here, but the Boston  rap wouldn't go over here. Plus, he's really just a whinier version of Mike Greenberg.

If they teamed him with Carton, I'd bet they'd kill it.

I agree. I think Christi and Carton work well together. Carton can be annoying though. I hate it when he claims to speak for Jets fans.

Pretty much the same here though I stopped with Howard before the satellite transition.  It used to be must-hear radio to get his take on issues, but his sexual schtick just wasn't entertaining after I had kids, I guess I just matured a bit.  He also stopped being funny with his studio crew, when Stuttering John went away so did half his good material.

Having lived in New England for 14 years at one point, yes, it's a lot of fun to hear the enemy fanbases lose it.  Some good times when the Yankees were dominating and those years before Belichick.
